Kelsey Miller
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is passionate about working with women and children, providing a compassionate and supportive space to navigate emotional challenges, build coping skills, and foster growth. I have over 20 years of experience helping children, teens, adults, older adults, and families impacted by many forms of life stressors. I believe every individual brings unique strengths, experiences, and hopes to therapy, and that growth looks different for everyone, from finding small moments of joy to navigating life’s most difficult losses. My goal is to help you reconnect with yourself, recognize your potential, and move forward with greater clarity and compassion. Even in challenging seasons, I believe there is always space for hope, healing, and possibility. I don’t believe in quick fixes. Our work is built on trust, understanding, & collaboration. Together, we’ll explore your experiences, what they’ve meant to you, & how they continue to shape your life, at a pace you're comfortable with.
I take a person-centered approach that begins with meeting you exactly where you are. Therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all.
Strengths
I have ample space in my office for art and play therapy, which isn't just for kiddos! Ultimately, I utilize a combination of therapies depending on the individual. What is most important to know is that your treatment is tailored to you and that you are encouraged to ask questions. If at any point you do not feel that something is working speak up. I would be offended if you didn't.
Treatment methods
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage intense emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and develop healthier coping strategies. I teach and reinforce skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness to help clients respond to challenging situations more effectively. I work collaboratively with clients to identify triggers, practice coping skills, and increase awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. My goal is to help clients improve emotional stability, build resilience, and develop practical skills that support healthier relationships and overall well-being.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies, and change behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. I work collaboratively with clients to recognize the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions, then help them replace unhelpful thinking patterns with more balanced and realistic perspectives. I incorporate practical exercises, goal setting, and skill-building techniques to help clients manage symptoms, improve problem-solving, and develop effective coping skills. My goal is to empower clients to apply these strategies in their daily lives, increase emotional resilience, and achieve lasting improvements in their overall well-being.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to help clients reduce anxiety and obsessive-compulsive behaviors by gradually facing situations, thoughts, or feelings that trigger distress while resisting the urge to engage in compulsions or avoidance behaviors. I work collaboratively with clients to identify their triggers, develop a gradual exposure plan, and practice tolerating uncertainty and discomfort without relying on rituals or reassurance. Throughout the process, I provide support, monitor progress, and reinforce the understanding that anxiety can decrease naturally over time and that distress can be managed without compulsive behaviors. My goal is to help clients build confidence, improve daily functioning, and develop healthier ways of responding to anxiety.
Trauma-Informed Care
I use Trauma-Informed Care by creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered. I recognize how trauma may affect a person's emotions, behaviors, relationships, and overall well-being. I prioritize safety, trust, collaboration, and client choice while avoiding practices that may trigger or retraumatize clients. I help clients identify their strengths, develop healthy coping strategies, and build emotional regulation skills at a pace that feels comfortable for them. My goal is to promote healing, build resilience, restore a sense of control, and support clients in achieving their treatment goals.
Play Therapy
I use Play Therapy to help children express their emotions, process difficult experiences, and develop healthy coping skills in a safe and supportive environment. I use age-appropriate activities, toys, games, and creative expression to help children communicate feelings and experiences they may have difficulty expressing verbally. I observe play patterns, build trust, and encourage emotional expression, problem-solving, and positive social interactions. My goal is to help children improve emotional regulation, build self-esteem, strengthen communication skills, and develop healthier ways to manage challenges at home, school, and in relationships.
