Marilyn Abdelsayed

LCSW (she/her)7 years of experience

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, licensed since 2017, with experience in helping people navigate life’s challenges. My approach is grounded in cultural humility, trauma-informed care, and collaboration. Whether you're processing something heavy or just feeling stuck, I’m here to support you in making meaningful, lasting change at your own pace. I help clients build insight, regulate emotions, and feel empowered. Whether you're healing from past wounds or navigating the stress of everyday life, like relationship conflicts, family responsibilities, demanding work environments, or major life transitions, I'm here to support you. I’m a proud first-generation college graduate, having earned my bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology from Cal State Fullerton and my MSW from the USC School of Social Work. Outside of work, I find peace in nature, love to travel, and stay grounded through running, spending time with my dog, and binge-watching a good series on Netflix or HBO. I believe therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating—it’s simply a space where you get to be fully seen, heard, and supported.

First session

Our first session is all about getting to know you... your story, goals, and what’s bringing you to therapy now. I’ll ask some guided questions but there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for. Together, we’ll explore what’s most important to you and start building a space that feels safe, supportive, and judgment-free.

Strengths

I’m empathetic but direct. I bring warmth and grounding energy into sessions while also helping clients challenge patterns and build tools to move forward.

Ideal clients

I work best with adults who are ready to process their experiences and move toward meaningful change—even if they don’t know where to start. Many of my clients have histories of trauma, cultural identity concerns, or are navigating high-stress environments like caregiving, criminal justice, or first responder work. My ideal clients are open to reflection, even if they’re skeptical of therapy at first.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that impact their emotions and behavior. Together, we develop more adaptive ways of thinking and problem-solving to support healthier coping and emotional regulation.

Psychoeducation

I integrate psychoeducation to help clients better understand their mental health, symptoms, and coping strategies. This approach empowers clients with knowledge and tools to take an active role in their healing.

Psychodynamic

My psychodynamic work focuses on helping clients uncover patterns from the past that may be shaping current struggles.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I incorporate mindfulness-based practices to help clients build present-moment awareness and reduce reactivity to stress.
