Edyn Butts Mckinnon

My name is Edyn McKinnon. I received my Associate of Science Degree from South Georgia College in 2009. I then went to Georgia Southern University, where I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011. I earned my Family Nurse Practitioner degree and started working in psychiatry. I worked in psychiatry for the past 10 years. In July 2021, I earned a Post Masters Certificate for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Valdosta State University. I most recently earned my Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree (DNP) in May of 2024 from Valdosta State University. When I started working in psychiatry, it became my passion. I work with individuals from the age of 6 to geriatrics. I have had the pleasure to work on several inpatient crisis stability units for adult age patients, 18-55 years old, as well as geriatric units for patients aged 55 years and older. I have been working in the private practice setting for the past 6 years. I have come to realize that when you love what you do, it is no longer truly work. I would love to work with you, formulate a treatment plan that is appropriate for you. I believe that it is important for me as a provider to involve patients in this process, this will provide the best patient outcome. I don't want to be the provider that just prescribes pills. I want to be the provider that actively listens and with your help makes the right treatment plan together. My favorite compliments from patients are that as a provider I actively listen and make them feel human, as others in the past had not. I am here for you. Let's do this.
