New to Grow
I’m Malavika— my clients call me Mal. Reaching out for support isn’t always easy, and I’m really glad you’re here. Has life been feeling more overwhelming lately? Is anxiety or feeling down making things harder to manage? Are you navigating life transitions, loss of direction, or the pressure of cultural or family expectations? Do you feel like you and your partner keep having the same arguments over and over? I specialize in working with multicultural and immigrant family dynamics, as well as relationship challenges. Together, we can explore patterns that feel hard to shift and find practical ways to move forward. I draw from mindfulness, attachment-informed work, and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). My aim is to create a space where you can slow down, feel understood, and explore what’s coming up—without judgment.
We’ll start by talking about what’s on your mind and what’s bringing you in, and just getting a sense of how it feels to work together. If it feels like a good fit, we can begin exploring what you’d like to work toward and what meaningful change might look like for you.
I work with individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. My strength is in providing collaborative, culturally attuned, client-centered care that is grounded in a strong therapeutic relationship. When you feel safe, real change starts to feel possible. In our work, we’ll gently get curious about the patterns that show up in your relationships—especially the ones that leave you feeling disconnected or unsure how to respond. Even in individual therapy, we can begin shifting these patterns so you feel more connected in your relationships and feel more like yourself .
I tend to be a good fit for clients who feel stuck in emotional or relationship patterns and want something to rchange. You might be navigating cultural or family dynamics, life transitions, workplace stress, or past relational hurt. If you’re looking to better understand yourself, change old patterns, work through unresolved trauma, cope more effectively, and build healthier relationships—while also feeling more present in your life—I’d be happy to connect. (You can read more about the approaches I use at the bottom of this page)
Attachment-based
My work is informed by attachment-based therapy, which looks at how early relationships shape how you feel and connect today. Together, we’ll explore these patterns and gently begin to shift them so you can feel more secure in yourself and your relationships.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you manage intense emotions, handle impulsive stress reactions, and navigate relationships more effectively. You’ll learn practical skills to pause, respond more calmly, and make real, everyday changes that feel more manageable.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) helps you understand your attachment patterns and improve your relationships. It makes sense of how fears shape connection, so you can feel more open, engaged, and build more secure relationships by shifting out of negative cycles with your partner.
