Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy because it gives my clients the principles of learning or “tools” in becoming successful in overcoming challenges. In dealing with what is encountered through therapy I will utilize an eclectic approach in recommending what work best for the clients I serve. The techniques I utilize are systematic desensitization, relaxation methods, flooding, reinforcement techniques, modeling, cognitive restructuring, assertion and social skills training, self-management programs, behavioral rehearsal, coaching, and various multimodal therapy techniques.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I teach and utilize mindfulness to help my clients develop an increased awareness, that's free from judgment of what’s going on with them. Mindfulness provides the opportunity for my clients to check in with themselves, to see how they are feeling, and what they are thinking to better understand exactly what they need (or need to do). I let my clients know that they can be less impulsive, feel less angry, feel less stressed, and become more in control of their emotions and how they interact with others. Clients are taught grounding techniques using meditative breathing and imagery work.
