Hello all! I’m a mental health professional with over 15 years of experience. I’m from Washington, DC area and graduated from Howard University and The University of Maryland School of Social Work. I gained my experience working in Mental/Behavioral Health with positions with the State of Maryland, the Department of Veterans Affairs, Recovery Centers of America, and the Department of Defense/Department of the Army to name the most impactful. My specialities include treating individuals plagued with issues related to trauma/PTSD, depression, anxiety, and related disorders. The group I have the most experience in treating are people of color (mostly Black/African Americans), military veterans and current military personnel. I also enjoy working with those that have assorted physical disabilities, seen or unseen. As a Black female who is also a member of a military family and also has a disability, I have been able to speak to those experiences.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

It is my hope and intent that you believe that I will be able to assist you in the ways you desire in regards to seeking therapy. I understand that everyone is not going to automatically get along, and if that is the case I have no issue with you looking for another therapist. I pride myself on my honesty and straightforward approach which is not for all. Even though I will be honest, I will never be cruel or mean. I truly want you to believe you are receiving valuable assistance.

The treatment methods and tools I utilize

I utilize the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy methodology the majority of the time however I’m not opposed to using different methods for different occasions and different clients. I want you to be able to easily incorporate small behavioral changes into your everyday life.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I truly enjoy working with the military population as well as women who are victims of trauma in various forms. Because I am from not only a military family but also a deeply religious Black American family with roots in the Deep South, I have the experience of doing some things very differently than my family would have preferred. These experiences have caused me to view life from varying perspectives & I learned there are many different ways to get to the same result. I’m very seldomly shocked by what I’m being told and because I’m very logical, I am able to dissect an issue from various perspectives. Because I have and continue to live life, I’m also never judgmental. Let us address the issues in a judgment free zone.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I prefer clients that are people of color with an emphasis on Black adults between the ages of 18 - 35. This includes military personnel/military veterans, college students, young professionals, and those with disabilities.
