Hello! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Georgia. I received my Bachelor’s degree in Medical Humanities from Baylor University and my Master's from Dallas Baptist University in Professional Counseling and have been practicing for over 9 years. I help young adults, adults, and seniors and specialize in treating emotional distress, anxiety, pre-martial counseling , women's issues, grief, and prenatal/postnatal/perinatal issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

You can prepare for the first session by completing the client history beforehand online, as well as ask questions you may have. We will spend the first minutes of the session going over paperwork and our informed consent so that you are aware of your rights as well as our policies and procedures. Once that is completed, I will then work with you to fully gain a deeper understanding of your areas of concern and start to develop goals and a plan to meet those goals. I look forward to leaning about what's bringing you into therapy and how I can help.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a competent counselor one of the main qualities I utilize is patience and connection with the client. I aim to provide a judgment-free atmosphere of warmth and safety. In this type of therapeutic environment I have witnessed repeatedly that change and healing are possible.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

It’s a non-authoritative approach to mental health conditions, where the client leads the process with subtle guidance from the therapist. Through the therapeutic relationship, clients can gain insight and create lasting changes. The goal of the therapist is to create an environment that is both empathic and non-judgmental. The client is the one that is driving the process, while the therapist is there to help navigate and provide skills and techniques that the client can utilize. This type of therapy can result in boosted self-confidence, self-acceptance, and self-discovery.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, problem-focused, and time-limited therapy in which individuals are taught to observe and document their negative thoughts so they can identify the associations between thoughts, feelings, physiology, and behavior. Individuals will learn to assess the rationality and usefulness of these cognitions and change dysfunctional cognitions to amore adaptive perspective. Behavioral techniques such as activity scheduling, self-monitoring of mastery and pleasure, and graded task assignments are used to help individuals overcome disinterest and expose themselves to rewarding experiences. Individuals also learn adaptive coping skills and problem-solving skills. Cognitive Behavioral counseling entails many strategies and techniques to help depressed individuals address their thinking including psycho-education, guided discovery, Socratic questioning, role-playing, imagery, and behavioral experiments.

Attachment-based

Attachment-based therapy is founded on the study of attachment theory, which suggests that a strong early attachment to a primary caregiver is a primal necessity for healthy growth and development of all humans. When children are brought up with a strong sense of security, founded on supportive and loving relationships, they are more equipped to interact in a healthy way with their environment; with active exploration, an inquisitive mind, and the ability to form connections with others.

Compassion Focused

Compassion Focused therapeutic approach aims to help those who struggle with shame and self-criticism, often resulting from early experiences of abuse or neglect. CFT teaches clients to cultivate the skills of self-compassion and other-oriented compassion, which are thought to help regulate mood and lead to feelings of safety, self-acceptance, and comfort.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

Culturally Sensitive therapy experience includes knowing about cultural characteristics, history, values, beliefs, and behaviors of another ethnic or cultural group. Knowing and respecting that differences exist between cultures. A culturally competent therapist has the capacity to bring into its system many different behaviors, attitudes, and policies and work effectively in cross-cultural settings to produce goal focused outcomes.
