Hi my name is Antwan and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in the state of Alabama and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia. I have been in the counseling profession for over a decade. Along with being a licensed therapist I teach as an adjunct professor in the graduate program for Counseling and Human Studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). My primary areas of focus are mental health, substance abuse, gay/lesbian issues, anxiety, and depression.

My treatment methods

Person-centered (Rogerian)

As a therapist, I use this treatment method to provide a nonjudgmental environment conducive to honest self-exploration.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

A short-term goal-focused evidence-based therapeutic approach, which helps clients change by constructing solutions rather than focusing on problems.

Strength-Based

As a therapist, I encourage clients to capitalize on their strengths rather than focus on negative characteristics.

Reality Therapy

The primary goal of reality therapy is to help clients find better ways to fulfill their needs. The counselor teaches the client how to evaluate their behavior, make plans for change, and set goals for themselves.

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy

As a therapist, I aim to help a person challenge unhelpful thoughts to avoid negative emotions or behaviors.
