Anne Abreu
I am a compassionate bilingual Licensed Mental Health Therapist fluent in both English and Spanish, dedicated to supporting the Latino community through culturally responsive, culturally competent, and stigma-free mental health care. I am passionate about increasing mental health awareness and breaking down barriers and stigma that often prevent individuals and families from seeking support! I work with children, adolescents, and young adults who are looking for a personalized and collaborative approach to therapy. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mental health treatment. Using an eclectic therapeutic style, I tailor each session to meet the unique strengths, needs, and goals of every client. During our first session, clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and judgment-free environment! The initial session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship.
First session
The first session is all about getting to know you and creating a space where you feel comfortable and supported. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, your goals, and what you hope to gain from the process. There is no pressure to share everything right away, we’ll focus on building trust, answering questions, and creating a plan that feels right for you.
Strengths
I bring a warm, person-centered approach while also confidently challenging clients and helping them build greater self-awareness. Psychoeducation is an important part of my work, as I want clients to understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and the “why” behind what they are experiencing. When working with children, I value collaboration with parents and caregivers, incorporating psychoeducation and practical parenting strategies to support progress both in and outside of therapy.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is a child, adolescent, or young adult who may be struggling with anxiety, ADHD, emotional regulation, self-esteem, relationships, or navigating life transitions. I enjoy working with clients who want to better understand themselves, build confidence, and develop practical skills to manage everyday challenges. I also value working collaboratively with families to better understand and support their child’s emotional and behavioral needs.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify unhelpful thought patterns, explore how they impact everyday life, and develop healthier ways of thinking and responding. I combine CBT with psychoeducation and practical coping strategies so clients can better understand themselves and have tools they can use outside of therapy.
Psychodynamic
I use psychodynamic therapy to help clients explore how past experiences, relationships, and early life experiences may influence their current emotions, behaviors, and relationship patterns. Together, we build awareness of recurring patterns and work toward understanding where they come from. This deeper insight can help clients better understand themselves, break unhealthy cycles, and develop healthier ways of relating to themselves and others.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use a person-centered approach to create a warm, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. I meet clients where they are and allow them to move at a pace that feels comfortable, while still gently challenging them when appropriate. I believe clients are the experts on their own experiences, and my role is to support, guide, and empower them throughout their therapeutic journey.
