Hello, and welcome to counseling! I am a board-certified licensed professional counselor in Texas (License #85234), and I specialize in the treatment of depression and anxiety as well as the prevention of suicide. I also provide career and wellness counseling to support my clients in strengthening their identities, developing resilience, and honoring their values. With each client I work collaboratively to create a unique and individualized treatment plan that typically draws from a number of different approaches.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I start the first session with reviewing confidentiality and informed consent as well as setting expectations. I then give the client an opportunity to tell their story and share what brings them to counseling. At the end of the session, I provide general ideas for how to approach their treatment, request feedback from the client, and decide with them what the next step will be. My clients set their own goals for treatment, and I work collaboratively with them to refine those goals and create concrete/specific objectives. We review progress towards goals at least every 3 months, but I am always open to amending and updating treatment plans whenever a client's needs change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am not only a provider but also a patient who has been living - and thriving - with depression and anxiety for years. My personal experiences along with my professional training as both a physician and a counselor help me to empathize with my clients, understand their perspectives, and develop effective plans for managing emotional and mental health issues - even those that are challenging, complex, and/or severe. I strive to create a welcoming, respectful, safe, non-judgmental, and empowering environment for my clients, and I respect that they are the experts on their own lives.
