As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I provide compassionate, respectful, and evidence-based care. I understand that mental health is deeply personal and shaped by individual experiences. My approach focuses on thorough assessment and personalized medication management aligned with your values, goals, and circumstances. Together, we create a safe, thoughtful treatment plan that promotes stability, resilience, and long-term emotional well-being.
I love intake sessions because I get to learn about you and your goals for treatment!
What stands out about my therapeutic approach is my commitment to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care that begins with a thorough and thoughtful assessment. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), I believe that accurate diagnosis and effective treatment start with understanding the whole person—not just their symptoms. My assessment process is detailed and collaborative. I explore psychiatric history, medical conditions, trauma exposure, substance use, family dynamics, cultural influences, and psychosocial stressors. I also incorporate screening tools when appropriate and ensure medical rule-outs are considered before finalizing a diagnosis. This comprehensive approach allows me to develop individualized treatment plans that address root causes rather than simply managing surface symptoms.
My philosophy is simple: to meet you where you are. I take into account your entire life experience—the social, emotional, and environmental factors that may be affecting your well-being. Together, we will create a treatment plan that fits your life and supports your mental health journey. Whether through in-person or virtual sessions, my goal is to provide a safe space for you to thrive, with a compassionate and patient-centered approach to mental health care.

I identify as
Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Mindfulness is not just a technique I “apply,” but a foundational framework I use to help clients build awareness, emotional regulation, and psychological flexibility. While I don’t have personal experiences in the human sense, I draw from well-established clinical approaches such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to guide how mindfulness is conceptualized and integrated into treatment. In treatment, this means helping clients: Notice thoughts without becoming entangled in them Recognize emotions without immediately reacting Increase awareness of bodily sensations Develop a compassionate stance toward themselves
Supportive
Supportive therapy is one of the most foundational approaches I use in practice. Rather than focusing primarily on deep interpretation or intensive cognitive restructuring, supportive therapy emphasizes strengthening a client’s existing coping abilities, reinforcing adaptive functioning, and providing a stable, empathic therapeutic relationship. This approach is especially valuable during periods of acute stress, crisis, life transitions, or when clients need stabilization before engaging in more insight-oriented or skills-based treatments. Supportive therapy is grounded in: Empathy and active listening Validation of emotional experiences Reinforcement of strengths and resilience Practical problem-solving Encouragement and hope-building

Sierra listened to my concerns and worked with me to find the right medication for managing my adult ADD when previous medications were no longer effective. Highly recommend.
