Hi, I'm Nick! I specialize in helping people navigate the complexities of relationships, divorce, and dating. Whether you're struggling to make a relationship work, facing the uncertainty of divorce, or trying to rebuild your confidence and find meaningful connections afterward, I'm here to help you move forward. My approach to therapy is direct, practical, and focused on meaningful change. I believe that understanding our struggles is important, but understanding alone isn't always enough. Real progress happens when we take what we've learned about ourselves and put it into action.

Courage is the first step towards freedom.

Having experienced divorce and the challenges of dating myself, I understand how overwhelming these transitions can feel. I also know that it's possible to come out the other side with greater confidence, clarity, and a renewed sense of purpose. My goal is to help you do exactly that: understand what's holding you back, identify what you truly want, and develop the confidence and skills to build a life and relationships you're proud of.

First session

Our first session is about getting to know you, understanding what brought you to therapy, and beginning to identify what you want to change. I'll ask questions about your current challenges, your relationships, your personal history, and what you've already tried to improve your situation. Just as importantly, I'll want to understand what a better life would actually look like for you. What would need to change for you to feel more confident, fulfilled, or satisfied with your relationships? My approach is conversational, collaborative, and direct. You can expect me to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and offer my perspective when I think it might be helpful. There's no need to worry about saying the right thing or having your thoughts perfectly organized. By the end of our first session, my hope is that you'll feel understood, have greater clarity about the challenges you're facing, and begin to see a direction forward. We may not have all the answers yet, but we'll have a starting point and a clearer understanding of what we're working toward together.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to balance empathy with honesty and directness. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel understood and supported, but also a place where you're challenged to grow. Having personally navigated divorce, rebuilt my confidence, and worked through the challenges of dating and relationships, I bring more than professional knowledge to these conversations. I understand how difficult it can be to question your identity, confront uncertainty, and figure out what comes next when life doesn't go according to plan. In our sessions, I'm not someone who will simply nod along and tell you what you want to hear. I'll ask difficult questions, challenge assumptions, and point out inconsistencies between what you say you value and how you're actually living. I'll do so with compassion, respect, and the genuine intention of helping you move forward. Ultimately, I want to help you develop a clearer understanding of who you are, what you want, and what might be standing in your way. From there, we'll work together to create a practical path toward the relationships, confidence, and life you envision for yourself.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is someone who feels stuck in an area of their life and is ready to do something about it. They might be struggling in a relationship, navigating a difficult divorce, rebuilding their life after a breakup, or feeling frustrated and discouraged with dating. Perhaps they've lost confidence in themselves, find themselves repeating unhealthy relationship patterns, or simply aren't sure what they want their future to look like. I particularly enjoy working with people who are at a crossroads in their lives. They recognize that something needs to change, but aren't entirely sure where to begin. They want to better understand themselves, develop healthier relationships, and build a life that feels meaningful and fulfilling. Above all, my ideal client is someone who is willing to be honest with themselves and open to being challenged. You don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You just need a willingness to explore what's holding you back and take steps toward something better.

Treatment methods

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) into my practice to help clients better understand and manage their emotions, navigate interpersonal challenges, and build healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Through DBT, I help clients develop practical skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. For those experiencing family conflict, we work on improving communication, establishing healthy boundaries, and managing difficult emotions during challenging interactions. For clients struggling with loneliness or isolation, I focus on identifying patterns that may interfere with meaningful connections, strengthening interpersonal skills, and building confidence in social situations. My approach emphasizes helping clients develop greater self-awareness, respond to challenges more effectively, and create lasting changes that improve their relationships and overall quality of life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) into my practice to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress and difficulties in their relationships. Through CBT, I work with clients to understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another, and how changing these patterns can lead to meaningful improvements in their lives. For those experiencing family conflict, we focus on identifying negative assumptions, challenging unhelpful beliefs, and developing healthier ways of communicating and responding to others. For clients struggling with emotional regulation, I help them recognize triggers, reframe distorted thinking, and develop practical coping strategies to manage difficult emotions. For those experiencing loneliness or isolation, we explore negative beliefs about themselves and others, address avoidance behaviors, and build the confidence needed to develop meaningful connections. My approach is collaborative, direct, and solution-focused, emphasizing practical tools clients can apply in their everyday lives to create lasting change.
