Hi, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 9 years of experience. I believe treatment and therapy should be different for each individual depending on their preferences, background, beliefs, and personality. I frequently use compassion focused techniques to help clients understand that they are worthy of happiness and love. I have been trained in EMDR Therapy, which is used to treat a wide variety of symptoms that stem from trauma or upsetting memories. I strive to help clients find the right balance of healthy behaviors and realistic thoughts through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I also use many strategies from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) which incorporates mindfulness and acceptance.
First sessions are really about getting to know each other and getting comfortable. I allow clients to share what they feel comfortable sharing and I try to be gentle with sensitive subjects. I allow sessions to flow naturally so that my clients feel their needs and talking points are prioritized. I have found that when things flow naturally and we follow the string we are pulling on together, we can get to deeper places and insights that allow for change and a new beginning.
I listen carefully to what my clients need emotionally and I can be spontaneous and flexible in the sessions to help meet those needs. I would describe myself as intuitive in how I help others. I offer plenty of feedback with as much compassion as possible and share about myself to alleviate shame and judgement. Happiness can be so elusive and short-lived in our stressful lives and it is a blessing when we can learn new techniques and ways of being that give us just a little more time feeling happy and at peace. A goal that I am continuously striving for is to learn how to navigate through the toughest of life’s situations without compromising myself and my inner peace.
I have experience working with a wide variety of clients and issues. I have a passion for working with individuals struggling with anxiety, panic, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD or trauma, stress, perfectionism, relationship issues, career issues, parenting, codependency, victims of domestic abuse, health challenges, self esteem issues, and more. I believe our symptoms make sense based on our past and what our mind and body are needing. I try to help people feel relaxed and like they have a partner who can help them through things that can seem scary and new.
I use Acceptance and Commitment therapy among many other therapies to tailor to the clients needs. In using ACT, we can work on respecting and working with your thoughts and feelings rather than trying to change them. I work with clients on finding their values that help to act as a compass in life. When you learn to follow that compass no matter what person or situation is trying to throw you off, you start to build core trust (trust in yourself, trust in others, trust in the world).
I have been trained in EMDR Therapy, which is used to treat a wide variety of symptoms that stem from trauma or upsetting memories. I use it when talk therapy isn't enough to help with movement through a trauma or at the clients request.

I used strengths based therapy to help clients utilize their strengths to solve problems. Sometimes being creative with problem solving allows people to make decisions that align with them and solve problems in their own unique way.
