Hello! My name is Kathleen Landry. I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in New York and I have been a nurse for 9 years in the hospital inpatient and community outpatient settings. I enjoy focusing on mental, physical, spiritual, emotional, and behavioral wellness by utilizing psychotherapy, medication management, and complementary or alternative techniques to partner with and empower women as they navigate life transitions and challenges. The purpose of my practice is to see women in all stages of life, including the perinatal period, thrive and accomplish their goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will take time to get to know one another. I encourage openness as we discuss your specific concerns and challenges, your history, and your goals. It may be helpful for you and/or a supportive loved one to write down questions, concerns, or observations in the days leading up to our meeting in order to get the most out of our time together. Our first meeting is typically longer in order to provide us with space and time to begin creating a personalized plan for future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

In the world of mental health, there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach. It is my goal to partner with you to create an individualized plan to improve their emotional and mental well-being in a safe, judgment-free space. I like to consider the whole person and, therefore, we will consider mental, physical, spiritual, behavioral, and environmental components as we work together toward achieving long-term, sustainable, and holistic wellness.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am passionate about partnering with women across all life stages. I am specially trained through Postpartum Support International in perinatal mental health and mood disorders and in Massachusetts General Hospital women's mental health and medication management from puberty to postmenopause. I can conduct genetic testing for psychotropic medications and am always happy to share the latest research regarding complementary and alternative therapies for those who prefer a more holistic approach to wellness.

My treatment methods

Supportive

My person-centered practice focuses on walking alongside others to provide encouragement, empowerment, and emotional support during challenging life circumstances and transitions. By providing a safe, judgment-free space, my clients have the freedom to explore thoughts, emotions, relationships, faith beliefs, and behaviors in order to thoughtfully establish and achieve personal and interpersonal goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I enjoy utilizing CBT techniques to help individuals shift how they view negative or challenging situations so that they may be empowered to see and respond to them more effectively and clearly. During our sessions, we will adopt a mindset of self-reflection, identify negative thought patterns, practice mindfulness and stress-reduction techniques, and identify positive methods for managing challenging situations and interactions.
