Hi, I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Georgia. I received my Masters from Mercer University and have been practicing for 9 years. I help people of all ages and backgrounds to discover self-awareness, improve self-esteem, draw healthy boundaries and improve communication while becoming the best version of themselves. I truly believe that each one of us has the power to heal from within when we surrender and accept the reality of what is; this includes the beauty as well as the pain.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and then address the the presenting challenges that you are facing. From there we will create a treatment plan outlining measurable goals and objectives for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Having worked as a Professional School Counselor for 12 years and a Licensed Professional Counselor for 9 years, I've had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients of various ages and backgrounds. I've been able to guide both students and clients in identifying the root causes of the challenges they face and the ability to rise above the challenges. My greatest strength would be my ability to provide a safe space for each client to discover self-awareness, improve self-esteem, draw healthy boundaries and improve communication strategies. It is also important to me that each client discover the power of healing the inner child and come to a place of operating in full authenticity in daily life.
I specialize in providing therapeutic services to all ages. I have worked with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, stress management, anger management, relationship issues, grief, conflict resolution, parenting concerns, & career challenges. I have also helped many people who have experienced trauma or emotional abuse. I would describe my own counseling approach as one that is empathetic and gentle, and yet encourages accountability and responsibility in clients. I use a Carl Rogers approach coupled with Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Jungian Therapy, and Solution-focused techniques. I think it is important to meet each client exactly where he or she is on an individual basis without biases or prejudice. I structure my approach as one where I allow my clients to be open and honest with me while clarifying healthy boundaries that establish respect and independence. I desire for each of my clients to know, understand, and feel that I am respectful and supportive of their own goals and their progression. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. I was trained at Mercer University under a CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) methodology. Under the CACREP methodology, Mercer University was dedicated to ensuring that as future counselors we understood, practiced, and upheld the ethical standards outlined by the American Counseling Association (ACA) when working with clients of all ages and from all backgrounds. It takes great courage to acknowledge you are in need of support and even greater courage to seek support. If you are ready to take that step I am here to support and empower you. I look forward to working with you!
I enjoy utilizing CBT techniques in my practice. I believe that the cognitions of the brain affect the body and the emotional responses of the body in turn direct the cognitions of the brain. The brain is a miraculous muscle of the body that can be restructured by establishing new neural pathways via neutral thinking and CBT techniques. Reinforcing positive thought processes and actively stopping negative thought processes over time can decrease anxiety, depression, and other dysfunctions.
Strength's based counseling focuses on your internal strengths and resourcefulness and focuses on a positive mindset that helps you improve resilience which will in turn lead you to a practical and effective solution.
