Hello, I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with 12 years of extensive mental health expertise, including 9 years of prescribing medications. I earned my BSN from Oklahoma City University in 2010 and later obtained my Master's of Science in Nursing from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN in 2015. My professional journey has encompassed diverse settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care facilities catering to individuals with mental health concerns. I address a wide spectrum of issues, ranging from Autism, depression, anxiety, psychosis, personality disorders to bipolar disorder. Early in my training, I developed a special focus on PTSD and trauma. Holding ANCC board certification in psychiatric mental health, I am dedicated to providing comprehensive and compassionate care.
In our initial session, we'll start with a brief introduction before delving into your perception of any potential disorder. While there's a scientific aspect to mental health, the true art lies in comprehending how individuals perceive their experiences. This is particularly crucial in trauma, where personality adaptations often occur. Our first meeting will be comprehensive, exploring various aspects in detail. If necessary, I may initiate medication to alleviate symptoms, but given the nature of trauma, counseling is often essential, and I'll make referrals to qualified case management. My goal is to help individuals understand the underlying reasons for their emotions, and how mental health disorders can result in biochemical and structural changes in the brain. This understanding can bring a sense of relief, as people often feel better when they comprehend why they may be experiencing low moods or a sense of loss.
I excel in active listening, pose numerous thoughtful questions, and devise personalized plans drawn from my extensive and diverse experience. My primary urgency is to facilitate the well-being of my clients.
I find it rewarding assisting individuals grappling with PTSD and trauma. In my experience, quality psychiatry involves not only knowledge, but consistency and the establishment of a comfortable rapport. Additionally, I find fulfillment in working with those who have autism. The flexibility of a mobile platform like this proves invaluable for families, making it easier to schedule appointments for a child or dependent who may otherwise resist in-person sessions. Recognizing that depression and anxiety often stem from past trauma, I've honed effective treatment methods to address and alleviate these secondary symptoms.

I've effectively guided individuals to explore alternative perspectives on their reality, shedding light on the ways in which their perceptions influence their daily interactions with the environment. Throughout this process, clients and I collaboratively uncover distorted perceptions and recognize the development of maladaptive strategies, serving as the initial stride toward healing. With a 12-year track record, I've navigated this journey with diverse individuals, recognizing that the experience is unique for each person.
