Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our initial meeting we will discuss pertinent health history and the reason for seeking care. A comprehensive and holistic approach is taken to optimize overall wellbeing and sustainable long term outcomes.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Reflective practice is a journey throughout one's life that unites compassion for personal development and commitment to promoting human dignity. This is one of the core fundamentals an individual must embrace in order to captivate knowledge and insight that pertains to their field of study. Achieving this level of practice has no marked destination but rather is attained through personal experiences. It is important to foster therapeutic relationships by understand a patient's values and beliefs, accept the decisions of others, promote evidence-based practices, incorporate holistic care, and have humility as a provider.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with individuals who embrace a holistic approach to their wellbeing and acknowledge that healing occurs only when they are truly ready. We are all human and may encounter difficult or challenging times but that should not define or hinder future progress. Accepting the present and learning from the experience is the only way we can GROW!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Thoughts and behaviors influence our feelings. This treatment process allows patients to correct their false self-beliefs or distorted thoughts and perceptions that were responsible for negative mood, behaviors and anxiety. • The assumption of the theory is that thoughts come before any changes in mood and learning to substitute positive thoughts instead of negative thoughts. In doing this the mood, behavior, physical and emotional state will also change. Less emphasis on the events causing the anxiety or depression, but how we perceive and interpret the events. • Range of techniques used to change maladaptive, unhealthy, or self-destructive behaviors • Reinforce desirable behaviors and get rid of unwanted ones • May utilize relaxation, role-playing, coping, resilience, stress management, assertiveness, problem-solving • Has been used in patients with depression, anxiety, panic disorders, phobias, OCD, anger management, eating disorders, PTSD, ADHD, bipolar disorder, and substance abuse

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Decrease behaviors in patients with Borderline Personality Disorder and teaches how to deal with distress, self-manage and regulate emotions, and focuses on behaviors that doesn't serve the patient. Targeted Behaviors : Crisis, suicidal thoughts, therapy interfering behaviors, emotional reactivity, passivity, self-invalidation. Improves: Communication skills, emotional regulation, and decision making.

Existential

• Encouragement of self-confrontation and reflection • Accept freedom and make responsible choices, personal responsibility • Idea of finding meaning/purpose in life and focus on the present • Helpful for those contemplating Suicide or terminal illness • True/authentic life emphasized, in the present

Interpersonal

• Interpersonal issues is the focus that creates distress for client • Noted to help with depression, eating disorders, SUD, and BD • Time-limited, present-focused, and diagnosis-targeted intervention (12-16 weeks) • Focus is “Here and Now” by resolving issues related to the identified problem area • Nonjudgmental approach supported by empathetic listening, maintaining confidentiality, expressing warmth, and engaging the patient in therapy • Follows a holistic approach that has an underlying assumption that past and present relationships of a person plays a role in the origin of arising concerns • Goal is to improve relationships and change expectations surrounding the relationship • Can especially be helpful in helping clients with relationship/marriage problems/concern
