Hi, I am Wilma Torres, LCSW, a psychotherapist offering virtual mental health at my private practice. My approach to therapy begins with creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, and supported. In our initial sessions, I focus on building rapport, understanding your goals, and exploring your personal history to gain a comprehensive view of your concerns. Together, we’ll identify patterns, strengths, and areas for growth. I tailor my approach to each individual’s needs, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as CBT, psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, or trauma-informed care. Throughout our work, I emphasize collaboration, transparency, and open communication. Therapy is a process, and I view each client as an active participant in their own healing. Whether you're seeking short-term support or long-term exploration, I strive to help you gain insight, develop coping strategies, and foster lasting change.,

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, we discuss the reason the client is looking for services. The client will tell his/her story. We then explore what has worked (or not) in the past and how I can help. During subsequent sessions, I check in with the client to review the week and then we collaboratively work on and discuss any presenting issues and some approaches.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in my work with clients because it is an evidence-based, practical approach that helps people better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. CBT focuses on identifying unhelpful or distorted thinking patterns and developing healthier, more balanced ways of thinking that support emotional well-being and positive change. In sessions, I collaborate with clients to explore how their thoughts influence their reactions to life stressors, relationships, and personal challenges. Together, we work to recognize patterns that may be contributing to anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or other concerns, and replace them with more adaptive coping strategies. CBT is goal-oriented and skills-based, which allows clients to build tools they can use both during sessions and in their everyday lives.
