Jamie Bethel
Hello, I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) dedicated to helping individuals improve their mental wellness and quality of life. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care for adults experiencing conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma, and other mental health concerns. My approach is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and personalized, ensuring that each treatment plan is tailored to meet the unique needs and goals of every patient. I offer convenient telepsychiatry services and am currently accepting new patients in both South Carolina and New York.
First session
During your first session, we'll take time to get to know one another and discuss what brings you to treatment. I will review your mental health history, current symptoms, medical history, medications, and any concerns or goals you have for care. This comprehensive evaluation helps me gain a clear understanding of your needs and allows us to develop a personalized treatment plan together. My goal is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where you feel heard, supported, and comfortable asking questions. By the end of the appointment, you'll have a better understanding of your diagnosis, treatment options, and next steps toward achieving your mental health goals.
Strengths
My approach stands out because I believe mental health care should be personalized, collaborative, and compassionate. I take the time to listen carefully to each patient's story, understand their unique experiences, and develop treatment plans tailored to their individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I combine evidence-based psychiatric care with a warm, supportive environment where patients feel respected, heard, and empowered to participate in their treatment decisions. My goal is not only to help manage symptoms but also to support long-term wellness, resilience, and overall quality of life. Through convenient telepsychiatry services, I strive to make high-quality mental health care accessible and effective for every patient.
Ideal clients
I am best positioned to work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety disorders, depression, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, adjustment difficulties, stress-related conditions, and life transitions. I particularly enjoy helping individuals who feel overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally exhausted, or challenged by patterns of overthinking, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, or difficulty managing daily responsibilities. Many of the individuals I work with are motivated to change but may struggle to implement effective coping strategies, regulate emotions, manage executive functioning, or balance the demands of work, school, parenting, and relationships. I provide a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can develop insight, build resilience, and learn practical skills to improve their overall functioning and quality of life.
Treatment methods
Supportive
I provide supportive, patient-centered therapy as part of psychiatric care, creating a safe and compassionate space for patients to explore current stressors, emotions, relationships, and life challenges. I use evidence-informed techniques such as active listening, validation, psychoeducation, coping strategies, and motivational support to help patients develop insight and practical tools for managing symptoms and improving daily functioning. My approach is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and focused on each patient’s individual goals while integrating therapy with medication management when appropriate.
