Ever since I was a young man, I had the desire to help others in need. My classmates told me that I should be a psychiatrist due to the fact I had a natural ability to read people very well. I am glad I get to do what I am passionate about for a living; it feels as if I am not working at all because I enjoy the work so much. My style of therapy is conversational. I would never ask what is wrong with you, but what is right with you. Working from the strengths perspective is important because enhancing our strengths can help you be a better person and what is why you come to therapy in the first place.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In the first session, I like to call it the "getting to know you" session. I would ask various questions to help get to know you better. I will be giving you a PHQ-9 which assesses your depressive levels and the GAD-7 which assesses your level of anxiety prior to our first session. It is suggested that you complete this a day prior to our first session.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I work with a diverse range of clients going through the muck and mire of life. We all know life can get really hectic and we just need someone to help sort it all out. This can lead to symptoms of depression and anxiety. I will sit with you through your trials and tribulations. My work deals with self-empowerment. I meet you where you are. Using CBT, narrative approach, and DBT I work with your strengths to help resolve your issues. In addition to all of these modalities, I employ the psychodynamic approach in working with childhood trauma.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work with a wide range of clients. However, I do not work with children and adolescents. I am best positioned to be of assistance to people who struggle with depression and anxiety. Because of my course work and experience, I also help people struggling with relationship and work issues as well.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help change unhealthy thinking patterns to healthier and adaptive thinking patterns. In this modality I help identify unhealthy coping mechanisms and help with developing more healthier coping mechanisms.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I can help you with overwhelming feelings such as depression, relationship difficulties and thoughts of self harm. I will sit with you and develop a plan to help reduce these behaviours and difficulties by implementing strategies such as meditations, radical acceptance, destress tolerance, and emotional regulation.
