New to Grow
I am a teacher and counselor with 25 years of experience. I am military-trained to help soldiers and first responders. I am a survivor of trauma myself and can relate to all aspects of trauma, including relationships and identity. I also have a passion for the Arts and specialize in using the Expressive Arts in healing. My practice , The Art of Healing is where I combine my passions of healing and the use of the Arts as my means of helping others. Along with evidence based, integrative and humanistic treatment.
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We will talk about what brought you for treatment; come up with a plan of treatment, answer any questions you may have, and talk through any fears or concerns you may have. By the time you leave, you will feel confident and ready to get started.
I provide an empathetic and supportive environment with candid communication. I like to be honest and open, so you can feel secure with me. I want you to feel comfortable, heard, and confident throughout your treatment. I believe in the value of the therapeutic relationship and its influence in creating positive change. Therapy is a partnership that collaborates together to create a productive and successful treatment. We will work together to create goals, adapt goals as needed, and complete goals as we move through the treatment process together. We will work together to create a successful treatment for you.
If you struggle with anxiety, trauma, grief, and depression, my heart goes out to you. I, too, am a survivor of these tragedies. I specialize in anxiety disorders, trauma, and loss. Understanding the depth of these wounds, I work at the subconscious and conscious levels to heal these wounds and change the negative impact they have on us. I provide holistic and integrative mental health, allowing for overall well-being. I use the Humanistic and Psychoanalytic perspectives. Where we work together, collaborating to meet your needs; combining psychological and scientific techniques with your overall goals in mind; and keeping it personalized to keep you feeling comfortable and heard.
Other specialties
I identify as
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I've been using CBT in my practice for the past twenty-five years. It's helped dozens of clients challenge recurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We'll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors interact with one another. We'll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a more relaxed and less stressful life.
Collaborative Management and Assessment of Suicidality (CAMS)
I use CAMS because it is an evidence-based, therapeutic framework used by clinicians to assess and treat suicidal patients. It prioritizes empathy, trust, and patient collaboration to directly target the specific "drivers" that make a patient consider suicide, often resolving suicidal ideation in as few as 6 sessions.
EMDR
I use EMDR therapy because it is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to help people heal from trauma and PTSD. Unlike traditional talk therapy, it uses guided "bilateral stimulation" (like side-to-side eye movements) while you briefly focus on a traumatic memory, helping your brain reprocess the event and reduce its emotional impact
Humanistic
I use the Humanistic appoach because it prioritizes the "whole person," focusing on personal growth, free will, and self-actualization. Instead of diagnosing symptoms or uncovering unconscious drives, these methods emphasize empathy, unconditional positive regard, and helping individuals reach their maximum potential.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Emotionally Focused Therapy, is a highly structured, evidence-based psychotherapy approach used to treat individuals, couples, and families. Instead of treating emotions as problems to be fixed, EFT helps clients identify, experience, and transform deep emotions into healthy, adaptive responses.
