My name is Aileen and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience providing EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). My specialties include trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues and LBTQI issues. My therapy approach is collaborative, providing feedback and understanding in a therapeutic space. My priority is provide a safe space to talk about your feelings, learn new coping skills and techniques while empowering you

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions to get to know each other, have an open dialogue on any challenges you are facing, and discuss what you would like to get out of therapy. We will collaboratively work together to create a plan on how to work towards their therapy goals. We will use our first session to get an understanding on your needs and how I can best support you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having a therapist you connect and trust is important. My greatest strength is providing a safe space to talk about your feelings, learn new coping skills and techniques while empowering you.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

The clients I typically work with appreciate this approach as they have expressed needing a space to feel safe sharing their thoughts and emotions while working with someone who can challenge them. In our first session together, we will start with brief introductions, share any challenges you are facing, and discuss what they would like to get out of therapy.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We look at thoughts, feelings and behaviors to work out if they're unrealistic or unhelpful and to determine the effect they have on each other and on you. We work towards how to change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors.

EMDR

In EMDR, I encourage the patient to focus on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories.
