New to Grow
You are overwhelmed, overthinking everything, and overfunctioning just to keep things afloat. You are the one everyone relies on, but you are exhausted. You have gotten used to carrying everything for everyone, and if we are being honest, it is costing you your peace, your energy, and often yourself. If this sounds familiar, it is because I hear it all the time. It reflects the lived experiences of most of the clients I work with. In our sessions, we won't just talk about what is happening. We'll get honest about what's driving it and we work to change it. I'll help you notice the patterns that are keeping you stuck and challenge them in real time so that you can build something more sustainable in your actual day-to-day life.
The first session, while sometimes intimidating, is not where the real work begins. So let’s demystify the process, especially if you are new to therapy. You do not need to prepare anything ahead of time or have the “right” way to explain things. We will focus on what is happening in your life right now that is bringing you to therapy, where you are struggling, and what you want things to look like instead. We will also review intake information, confidentiality, and practice policies so you know what to expect moving forward. My goal is for you to leave with clarity about what you want from therapy, how I work as a therapist, and how we can move toward meaningful change together.
My greatest strength as a therapist is helping clients recognize the patterns (thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, etc.) that are keeping them stuck and understand how those patterns show up in their daily life. Therapy with me is not just about understanding yourself, but also about shifting how you show up in real time. Clients often come to me feeling overwhelmed, overfunctioning, or exhausted from carrying too much for too long. I balance support with honest reflection. While I will validate your experiences, I also challenge the limiting beliefs and behaviors that are keeping you stuck so you can move toward real change, not just a temporary “fix.”
Therapy with me tends to fit best for clients who are open to both insight and honest feedback, and who are ready to shift long-standing patterns rather than just talk through them. I am NOT the expert on your life. No one knows you better than you. I just help you slow things down and better understand why you think and respond the way you do. I work well with high-functioning adults who are tired of just getting by and envision something better. My approach is both supportive and direct, focused on helping you move out of survival mode and into the version of yourself you want to be.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. Together, we look at patterns that may be keeping you stuck and work on shifting unhelpful thinking in a way that feels realistic and meaningful.
Psychodynamic
I also use a psychodynamic approach, which means we spend time exploring how your past experiences and relationships may be shaping what you’re dealing with today. Together, we look at patterns that show up in your relationships, your reactions, and the way you see yourself, especially ones that may be happening without you fully realizing it.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients move toward the life they want, even when difficult thoughts or emotions show up. Instead of trying to get rid of those experiences, we focus on changing your relationship with them so they feel less overwhelming and controlling. Together, we identify what matters most to you and work on making choices that align with those values.
