I’m Dr. Otega Ojukwu, DNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC — a dual board-certified Family and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of healthcare experience dedicated to helping individuals achieve healthier, more stable lives. I work primarily with adults and young professionals experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, life transitions, and individuals whose emotional well-being is impacted by physical health concerns or financial stress. What makes my approach unique is that I look beyond symptoms alone—I help clients understand how mental health can be connected to lifestyle, physical wellness, stressors, and overall life stability. Through supportive care, medication management when appropriate, and practical coping strategies, I empower clients to regain emotional balance, improve daily functioning, and feel more in control of their lives. My goal is to help every client feel heard, supported, and equipped with tools that create lasting change.

First session

During your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming, judgment-free space where we take time to understand you—not just your symptoms. We’ll discuss your current concerns, emotional challenges, medical history, lifestyle factors, stressors, and goals for treatment so I can gain a full picture of what may be affecting your mental health. If appropriate, we may also discuss treatment options such as supportive therapy techniques, coping strategies, lifestyle adjustments, biofeedback-informed stress management approaches, and medication management when needed. My goal is for you to leave your first session feeling heard, informed, and hopeful—with a clear understanding of your next steps toward improved mental wellness and overall stability.

Strengths

What makes me unique as a provider is that I bring a truly integrated approach to care that addresses the connection between mental health, physical health, and life stressors such as financial instability—factors that are often deeply connected but frequently treated in isolation. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with dual board certifications as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-BC) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I have over 20 years of healthcare experience caring for diverse populations across multiple settings. This background allows me to look beyond symptoms and evaluate the full picture of a client’s well-being. Many clients come to me struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm—sometimes while also dealing with chronic medical concerns or financial pressures that worsen their mental health. My ability to understand both medical and psychiatric conditions helps me identify contributing factors that may otherwise be overlooked. One of my greatest strengths is education and empowerment. I believe clients deserve to understand what is happening in their minds and bodies so they can make informed decisions about their care. My approach is supportive, practical, and solution-focused. I utilize evidence-based methods such as psychiatric evaluation, medication management when appropriate, supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness strategies, and biofeedback-informed interventions to help clients better understand stress responses and improve emotional regulation. What often stands out about my therapeutic approach is that I meet clients where they are without judgment while helping them build sustainable coping strategies for long-term success. I take time to listen, understand patterns, and create individualized treatment plans that align with each client’s personal goals. Clients often tell me they appreciate that our sessions feel both compassionate and actionable—they leave feeling heard, informed, and equipped with practical next steps. My mission is not simply to treat symptoms, but to help individuals become more stable, informed, empowered, and confident in every area of life. I became a mental health provider after witnessing something many people overlook—mental health struggles are often connected to deeper issues that extend beyond emotions alone. As a Doctor of Nursing Practice and dual board-certified Family and Psychiatric Ment

Ideal clients

“My dream clients are adults who are navigating depression, anxiety, stress, and life transitions that may be affecting their emotional well-being. I am especially passionate about working with individuals whose mental health challenges are connected to broader life stressors such as financial strain, career pressure, relationship difficulties, and health concerns. Many clients experience anxiety or depression not in isolation, but alongside overwhelming responsibilities, uncertainty about their future, or chronic health issues. I enjoy helping clients gain clarity, develop healthy coping strategies, improve emotional resilience, and create practical plans that support both their mental wellness and overall life stability. My goal is to provide compassionate, supportive care that helps clients feel informed, empowered, and equipped to move forward.

Treatment methods

Integrative

I use an Integrated Treatment Approach, which means I combine evidence-based therapies and wellness strategies to meet each client's unique needs. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all method, I develop personalized treatment plans that consider mental, emotional, physical, and lifestyle factors affecting overall well-being. My goal is to help clients build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, improve their quality of life, and achieve lasting wellness through compassionate, collaborative, and holistic care.

Biofeedback

As a dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years of healthcare experience, I use biofeedback-informed strategies as supportive tools in mental health treatment. My experience includes helping patients recognize how stress, anxiety, and trauma affect physiological responses such as heart rate, breathing patterns, muscle tension, and sleep disturbances. I incorporate breathing retraining, mindfulness techniques, progressive muscle relaxation, and stress-monitoring tools, including wearable devices when appropriate. I also assess medical contributors such as thyroid dysfunction or vitamin deficiencies to ensure a comprehensive approach to improving emotional regulation and overall wellness.

Supportive

I use supportive treatment methods to help clients feel heard, understood, and empowered while navigating life stressors, emotional challenges, and mental health concerns. My approach includes active listening, encouragement, coping skill development, stress management techniques, and practical problem-solving strategies tailored to each client’s needs. I also help clients identify how physical health, lifestyle habits, and stress responses may impact emotional well-being, creating a holistic plan that supports both mental and overall wellness.
