Alexis Tonioni
I specialize in working with neurodivergent humans - especially those who have masked or felt totally overwhelmed by "simply" existing. Whether you're experiencing moments of high anxiety, overstimulation, shutdowns, trouble with friends, or masking so hard that you kind of forgot who you are - we might be a good fit.
First session
Our first session will be an opportunity to get to know each other and talk about what brings you to therapy. I’ll ask questions about your experiences, what you’re currently navigating, and what you’d like to work toward. While it will include the typical intake questions, I aim to make the session feel conversational, comfortable, and low-pressure rather than like an interview. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet—we can work together to identify goals and decide what would be most helpful moving forward.
Strengths
I offer neurodivergent informed therapy that focuses on nervous system attunement and somatic interventions. My job is to create the environment where you can start to show up authentically, work through challenges, and learn the tools to track and settle your nervous system.
Ideal clients
Many of my clients identify as neurodivergent or are in the process of exploring whether they may be neurodivergent, including adults who have been recently diagnosed or are navigating a late diagnosis. My clients often come to me feeling burnt out, misunderstood, and struggling to maintain everyday tasks. I help them find ways to navigate being a human when life gets hard, and I provide the tools to increase future functioning.
Treatment methods
Somatic
Somatic therapy is used to help you notice the connection between your thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. We may explore where emotions show up in the body, practice grounding and regulation skills, and build greater awareness of the nervous system. I tailor these techniques to your needs in the moment.
