Scott Elzea

LMHC14 years of experience

My primary goal is helping people find freedom from the burdens and struggles that have been holding them captive and helping to point them toward a healthier, happier life. I strongly believe that counseling should not be an intimidating, unpleasant experience but instead a life-giving, uplifting experience with some laughs along the way.

My primary goal is helping people find freedom from the burdens and struggles that have been holding them captive and helping to point them toward a healthier, happier life.

As such, I try to blend humor into the sessions and make the counseling relationship as natural as possible.

First session

It will mostly be focused on getting to know each other, finding out if we have a good connection, and discussing your goals for therapy (what you are wanting help with).

Strengths

I specialize with adults and teens, with a primary focus on addiction, depression, anxiety, and spiritual issues.

Ideal clients

My ideal client is simply someone who wants to grow. Openness, honesty, and vulnerability are incredibly important in the counseling relationship, but I also recognize that it can take time to find those and I won't rush you in that respect. My clients often come to me for help with a wide variety of issues including: various addictions, faith issues, OCD, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, PTSD, and many other needs.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT tends to be your standard talk therapy -- we talk about life struggles and discuss it together as two people walking through the same world.
