Hello! My name is Dr. David Hobby and I'm a board-certified Marriage and Family Therapist. I attended CIIS and graduated from Sierra University with an emphasis on bodily-oriented psychotherapy. . I specialize in trauma, relationship issues, emotional processing and emotional regulation. I'm happy to help you today with any of your healthcare concerns. I am currently not taking new couples clients but will work with a partner individually.
As a body-oriented psychotherapist, I assess for and work with emotional regulation in symptoms of anxiety, depression, and mood instability. Mindfulness is part of the skills learned as well as cognitive restructuring that address the thoughts and can challenge negative thinking. Self-love is often an important skill that is missing and learning self-compassion skills can be an important asset in maintaining happiness and well-being.
Having 30 years of helping clients move through their challenges has allowed me clarity about the therapy process. What I know is that each person is unique and has their own individual way of processing their emotional energy. Some plans work for some individuals but may not work for others. As a body-oriented therapist, I believe that to change one's behavior it is important to learn emotional regulation skills. These are skills you can use in the moment and also skills that build up resiliency. My goal is to create a safe place for you to share your feelings and story. It is important that you feel listened to and that my goals for you are in alignment of what your goals are. This work is a collaboration of us working together to get you what you need to move forward.
Individual clients with anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. Working with clients that have difficulty with emotional regulation or trauma from childhood or past relationships.

Only my first session with Dr. David Hobby, but so far, he gets an A! ✨ He was direct, honest, a great listener, and solution-oriented. I especially appreciated his thoughtful questions that helped me find my own answers rather than simply telling me what to do. I believe we often have the answers within us—we just need support and courage to bring them forward. As a trauma survivor, trust isn’t easy for me, so that means a lot. So far, so good! 🌷
