Hello, I am Esperanza Lopez a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California and looking forward to hear your story. I received my Undergraduate from San Francisco State University and fell in love with the city. I then moved to South California and received my Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology. Most of my experience has been providing individual therapy to 16-65 year olds. I provide therapy using a trauma informed lense as it's important to consider all factors contributing to today's presenting challenges. I also focus on the importance of your self-care. I myself enjoy playing soccer and staying physically active for self-care.
In out first session I will go over what to expect from therapy, introductions, and then I will get to learn about you, what brings you to therapy and ultimate goal in order to begin creating a plan for your individualized sessions.
Having worked with clients who have gone through complex traumas, I have seen the power of insight building to improve overall quality of life. I am very insight oriented in helping my clients make their own connections. My goal is to provide my clients with lasting tools they can continue to use and implement even after therapy. I like to help my clients feel empowered and regain ownership of their lives and feel confident to make autonomous decisions in their own journey.
I have over 6 years of experience in the mental health field providing trauma informed care. Additionally, I am Trauma Focused Certified to also provide the option of a more structured therapy format if preferred and ready to process an adverse event or traumatic moment in your life.
I practice through an attachment based lenses, meaning I consider all attachment wounds experienced throughout childhood. I also consider psychosocial factors, relationship wounds especially with folks who have experienced recurrent trauma throughout their lives.
Perhaps an individual is seeking therapy for a safe space, where they know they will receive unconditional positive regard and process any life events they may be experiencing and therefore, seeking a neutral therapist to help guide them through that adjustment in their life.
