Charity Edwards
Hi, I am Charity, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Florida, and I have been working with individuals for the past 7 years. I want to start off by saying, Thank you for taking the first step towards getting your mental health back of track. I have a background in department of children and families, crisis stabilization unit at behavioral health facility, marriage and family counseling, and military issues as I am a U.S. Army veteran. I have worked with individuals that have experienced depression, anxiety, mood disorder, low self esteem/confidence from helping individuals work through specific difficulties they are currently enduring. My counseling style is pretty laid back. I have been described as supportive, caring, and compassionate. I like to focus on identifying your strengths and helping you to maximize them to overcome your obstacles. I'm here to help you sort through the things that are difficult right now, and offer you a safe place to be open and honest without fear of judgment.
First session
I will provide safe, therapeutic environment in which you are able to experience full acceptance, empathy, and understanding. I will work with you in developing a healthier outlook, new strategies for managing your challenging relationships, reframing negative thought patterns, adding healthy coping skills, and exploring new ways of self-care.
Strengths
Positive psychology is a way of practicing gratitude and keeping a positive attitude. Acceptance and commitment therapy is a modality that allows you to accept what has happened to you and commit to "unpacking the bricks from your backpack." The modality is really called Patient-Centered, but I like using client-centered; it's more humanistic. Both means I will meet you where you are in this experience. I work with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, and life changes. I also work with people dealing with low self esteem and lacking confidence.
