Hi, I'm Betsey. I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who works with couples, families, adults, teens and children navigating relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, stress, grief and major life transitions. My approach is warm, collaborative, and ground in helping you feel understood, supported and empowered. I am passionate about creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered. I use evidence-based practices to help individuals navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and develop practical tools for emotional well-being. My approach is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and tailored to each client’s unique goals and experiences.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive space where we focus on getting to know you and what brings you to therapy. We will talk about your concerns, goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy, at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I’ll ask questions to better understand your experiences and background, and we’ll begin identifying strengths and areas of focus. Together, we’ll discuss how therapy can support you or your child and create a plan that feels collaborative, practical, and aligned with your needs.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strengths lie in my ability to create a safe, supportive, and collaborative therapeutic environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I take a systems-based, evidence-based approach, tailoring interventions to meet the unique needs of each child, couple, or family. I integrate structured, research-supported models while remaining flexible and responsive to clients’ goals and lived experiences. I am especially skilled at working with children through developmentally appropriate strategies and helping couples strengthen communication and emotional connection. Clients often appreciate my calm presence, practical tools, and focus on creating meaningful, sustainable change.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am best positioned to serve individuals, couples and families who are seeking to improve communication, strengthen relationships and navigate life's challenges with greater understanding and emotional connections. I work with clients experiencing relationship conflicts, patterns of disconnection, or managing emotions as well as those looking to build healthier family dynamics or develop personal insight and resilience. My approach is tailored in each client's goals, whether to deepen intimacy in partnership, fostering a more supportive family environment, or cultivating personal growth and self-awareness. I aim to create a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore challenges, gain practical tools and build lasting, positive change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients challenge overwhelming thoughts, build healthier thinking patterns and take small, meaningful steps toward change. We work together to understand how your thoughts affect your feelings and actions. In sessions, I'll guide you in learning tools like calming techniques, healthier thinking habits and small behavior changes that help you feel in control. My goal is to make therapy feel supportive, clear and effective-so you can see real progress in your daily life.

Couples Counseling

As a marriage and family therapist, I provide couples counseling to help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and understand each other's needs more clearly. My approach focuses on creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where both individuals can express themselves and feel heard. Together, we identify patterns that are causing conflict or distance and work toward healthier ways of connecting. I use evidence-based techniques such as those from Gottman and attachment-based therapy to strengthen emotional closeness, resolve recurring issues and support couples in building a more secure and satisfying relationship.

Family Therapy

As a marriage and family therapist I work with families using a systemic approach to help everyone feel heard, understood and supported. In family therapy we focus on patterns and relationships within the family system, rather than just individual behaviors. Together we explore how communication, roles and interactions influence conflict, stress and emotional connection. This helps families identify dynamics that may be contributing to challenges and discover healthier ways to relate to one another.
