Hi there, I'm Colette. I'm a Licensed Social Worker. I received my degree from Columbia University. I'm trained in EMDR, Mindfulness, DBT and CBT. I've been working in the mental health profession for over 20 years. I help young and older adults manage work stress, school stress, relationship problems, anxiety, mood swings. In sessions, I will meet you where you are, and provide you with compassion and a safe space.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're experiencin. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions
I've been in the helping profession for over 20 years and enjoy helping others learn to navigate toward a healthier life balance, which is essential to living a happier life. My greatest strengths as a provider is that I'm patient, compassionate, an avid learner and prefer evidenced based approaches. Additionally, I'm a good listener, knowledgeable, nonjudging, and empathic. I believe these skills are essential in this profession.
I offer clients many years of successfully treating a wide range of conditions in multiple modalities. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and solution focused. We'll work together to explore behaviors and thought patterns that may be contributing to problems in present day living and review skills tailored to harness optimal functioning.
In my experience, people improve their functioning when they are provided with evidenced based skills and are taught to practice them in a nonjudgemental, compassionate and supportive environment. During sessions, clients can expect a warm and compassionate skilled therapist, ready to teach mindfulness-based techniques to help them intentionally pay attention to the present moment and let go of thoughts and habitual emotional experiencing keeping them stuck. Clients will learn new healing pathways that will enhance their relationship with themselves and others and will learn to face external challenges more effectively.
I provide Culturally sensitive therapy by recognizing the uniqueness of each individual and understand how culture informs and may influence one's demeanor, thoughts, behaviors, relationship to self, others and the therapeutic processes. I provide clients a nonjudgemental safe space to share the multilayed influences that may be impacting their functioning.
