New to Grow
I bring more than 35 years of experience in mental health and substance abuse treatment, offering assessment, guidance, and support to adults navigating difficult points in their lives. Over the years, I’ve developed an eclectic, fully client‑centered approach that adapts to each person’s needs. My focus is on meeting individuals where they are, honoring their strengths, and helping them move toward meaningful change on their own path.
A first psychotherapy session centers on getting to know the client and their needs. I ask about their current concerns, past experiences, and what they hope to gain from therapy. I listen for patterns, strengths, and stressors while offering a calm, steady presence. My aim is to build trust, understand their story, and begin shaping a direction we can explore together.
I summarize my strengths as a psychotherapist through the breadth of my experience and the way I show up for clients. With over 30 years in clinical practice, crisis work, correctional mental health, and community‑based services, I’ve developed strong skills in psychotherapy, diagnostic assessment, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration. I’ve led teams, supported complex cases, and provided care across outpatient, emergency, and correctional settings. I stay grounded in trauma‑informed, ethical, and culturally responsive practice, always aiming to meet people where they are and help them move toward stability and growth.
I don’t hold an ideal psychotherapy client, because defining one would create exclusion and reinforce biases that have no place in healing work. Each person arrives with their own history, culture, strengths, and struggles, and I value meeting them exactly where they are. My role is to offer respectful partnership, not selectivity, creating space for anyone seeking support to engage in meaningful therapeutic growth.

CBT helps people understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors connect. In therapy, we identify unhelpful patterns and practice more effective ways of thinking and responding. It’s practical, structured, and focused on building skills that support real‑life change.
ACT focuses on helping people notice difficult thoughts and feelings without getting stuck in them. Instead of trying to eliminate discomfort, we practice acceptance, clarify personal values, and take small, meaningful actions. It’s a compassionate, practical approach to building psychological flexibility and moving toward a more fulfilling life.
An eclectic therapy style blends different approaches to match what works best for each person. Instead of relying on one method, I pull from various techniques—CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and more—to create a flexible, personalized experience. This allows us to adapt as your needs change and focus on what genuinely supports your growth.
Existential therapy explores how people find meaning, freedom, and direction in their lives. I help clients look at their values, choices, and personal responsibility while acknowledging the realities of uncertainty and change. It’s a reflective, supportive approach that encourages deeper understanding of one’s life, purpose, and authentic way of being.
ERP helps people gradually face fears or triggers while reducing the urge to perform compulsions. Together, we practice approaching situations that cause anxiety in small, manageable steps, building confidence over time. The goal is to retrain the brain, lessen avoidance, and support lasting change in daily life.
