About
Howdy! My name is Erika and I really want to be a part of your healing journey. I specialize in substance use & addiction, anxiety, eating disorders, depression, and trauma. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Substance Abuse Professional in private practice and I have received specialized education & training in the above areas. You deserve to thrive, not just survive. We will work together to build coping skills and better understand why you are the way you are. I provide a safe space for ALL people. There is no room for judgment or hate here. All neurodivergent individuals welcome. What even is ‘normal?’
First session
The goal of our first session is to get comfortable with each other. We may set more detailed goals but ultimately we need to first like each other!
Strengths
You'll never catch me in a blazer or heels, I prefer jeans and flannel. My approach is open-minded, strengths-based, and real (no bullsh*t here). I've been to the pits of hell and clawed my way out (with the help of a therapist) and now I would like to help you do the same.
Ideal clients
I work with adults struggling to manage anxiety, depression, substance use, eating disorders, and trauma. I also work with adolescents struggling with substance use and eating disorders. I utilize a strengths-based approach in all modalities- you are capable of anything and we will work together to find the best way to harness your strengths. My own struggles and triumphs with many of these issues is why I do what I do. I've been through it so understanding is a huge part of what I offer.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a structured, goal-oriented type of talk therapy designed to help individuals recognize the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns, you can effectively change how you react to difficult situations.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy helps individuals with extreme emotional dysregulation, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts by teaching practical skills to balance emotional acceptance with positive behavioral change.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy that helps you accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them. By building psychological flexibility, it encourages you to commit to constructive actions that align with your personal values rather than avoiding distress.
