New to Grow
After working in the fitness industry for over ten years, I became passionate about helping people recover from trauma and eating disorders upon reading "The Body Keeps the Score," and made a complete career pivot. I use my lived experience of overcoming my own traumas and past struggles with disordered eating to provide a safe space for clients who need true empathic support.
My approach to therapy is to help the client find resiliency through empowerment and help them find the keys that they already have within themselves through trauma-informed techniques. I believe that we are capable of overcoming maladaptive beliefs stored in the body by forging a mind-body connection to restore our true, authentic selves. I approach therapy with the objective of empowering the client to create their own success. Although I am warm by nature and approach therapy with compassion and empathy, I can be direct when needed, if the client needs to be challenged with irrational beliefs that may be limiting their success. Rapport is vital in exploring trauma and healing. In the initial intake, I will work with you to create a collaborative treatment plan using motivational interviewing, as well as collect relevant information that you deem important to the process. I will likely provide a few coping skills, especially if the goal is to work through traumatic events using EMDR.
I help clients to reach their goals by working with them in a collaborative process using motivational interviewing, EMDR techniques, and Narrative exercises, such as network sketching to help the client find their adaptive stories, as well as exploring the limiting beliefs that are contributing to a maladaptive story that is not serving them.
My clients come from all sorts of backgrounds, ranging from creative fields to military, police, and first responders. Although I specialize in trauma specific interventions, such as EMDR and TF-CBT, I also often work with people transitioning from relationships or career changes. I also have experience in drug and alcohol treatment, as well as eating disorders, which is helpful for people seeking a therapist to support them during recovery.
