New to Grow
If your mind won’t slow down, you’re constantly overthinking, or you feel stuck in the same exhausting patterns; you’re not alone. Anxiety and depression can show up in ways that are hard to explain but very real to live with. In therapy, we focus on understanding what’s going on beneath the surface and building tools that help you feel more grounded and in control in everyday life, not just during sessions. Hi, I’m Ivorie, an LCSW in Tennessee with 8 years of experience providing therapy in schools and private practice. I’ve worked with kids, teens, and adults navigating anxiety, OCD, stress, and overwhelming life transitions. My school-based background shaped my practical, down to earth approach: meeting people where they are, breaking things down clearly, and helping them apply what we discuss outside of session. My style is warm, supportive, and honest. I strive to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable showing up as you are. Together, we’ll explore what’s beneath the surface, connect the dots, and find approaches that work for your real life.
The first session is a chance for us to get a feel for each other and talk through what’s been going on. You don’t need to have everything figured out or know exactly what to say. I’ll guide the conversation and help you put words to what’s been feeling overwhelming. For children and teens, I move at their pace and use approaches that help them feel comfortable opening up. For adults, we’ll focus on what’s been hardest lately and what you want to feel different. By the end of the session, you’ll have a better understanding of what’s going on and a clearer idea of what next steps could look like.
I don’t just sit and listen. I help you figure out what’s actually going on and what to do with it. I’m good at picking up on patterns, even the ones you may not notice, and breaking things down in a way that makes sense. Whether it’s anxiety, OCD, or emotional overwhelm, I focus on helping you respond to it differently so it doesn’t keep running your day. With children and teens, I’m able to connect in a way that feels natural, not forced, which helps them open up more comfortably. I also support parents so they feel more confident in how to handle things at home. I keep things real, supportive, and focused on helping you feel more clear and more in control. Clients often leave sessions saying, "I never realized that", because things start to click in a way that they hadn't before. I keep things real, supportive, and focused on help you feel more clear and more in control
My best fit clients are kids, teens, and adults who are tired of feeling like something is wrong with them and ready to actually do something about it. I work well with people who want honest, practical support – not just someone to vent to. If you’re a parent watching your child struggle and not knowing how to help, or an adult who has been high-functioning and exhausted for way too long, you’re probably in the right place. I work with people across a range of backgrounds and identities and I don’t have to share your worldview to show up fully for you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT helps us look at the connection between what you're thinking, how you're feeling, and what you're doing. I use it to help clients spots patterns that are keeping them stuck and build practical skills YOU can actually use outside of session.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
ACT is less about eliminating hard feelings and more about learning how to stop letting them run the show. I use it to help clients building psychological flexibility so they can keep moving toward what matters even when things feel heavy.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma- informed care means I'm not just focused on symptoms, I'm paying attention to the full picture of what you've been through. Everything I do is shaped by an understanding of past experiences affect how we show up today. It changes how I ask questions, how I build trust, and how I pace the work.
Play Therapy
Kids communicate through play long before they can put to words what they're feeling. Play therapy gives them a space to work through big emotions, confusing experiences, and stress in a way that actually makes sense for how their brains work. I'm just there to follow their lead and help them make sense of it.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
Exposure therapy is about gradually face the things that trigger fear or anxiety instead of avoiding them. Avoidance feels like relief in the moment but it usually makes anxiety stronger over time. I use it to help clients build real tolerance and confidence, not just cope around the edges.
