About me

I am a a licensed marriage and family therapist with 10 years of experience in treating anxiety, depression, as well as specializing in trauma and how it impacts the individual and family unit. I am highly experienced in working with active duty and retired military, as well as other first responders. In addition to military trauma I also am highly experienced in working with sexual trauma of many forms. Mental health concerns can present in many ways and impact our quality of life to various degrees. My goal as a therapist is to help you to overcome whatever challenges you may be facing in your life and help you feel like “you” again. It is an honor to work with people in the most vulnerable areas of their life, and this is a commitment I take seriously.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session together is going to be a "get to know you" session. Typically I go through a client's past history with mental health treatment, their childhood and major life events thus far that may be impacting their current concerns. We will also discuss what symptoms they are experiencing and what the client would like to see change as a result of coming to therapy. I also like to provide some easy to access resources the clients can use between their first session and their follow-up to get an idea of what they like, dislike, or would like to do more of. Clients are also free to ask any questions about therapy or me as a therapist throughout their treatment including the first session. If, during the first session, either I as the therapist or the client decide I would not be a good fit for them, I will provide appropriate referrals to someone who would be a better fit for what they are looking for.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I approach therapy with openness and curiosity, always seeking to understand the client first before pushing back or trying to impose change. I know what it feels like to feel misunderstood or to be pushed in a direction that does not feel genuine or helpful, and it is my priority to meet the client where they are and help them in the ways they themselves want to be helped. The client is the expert in their own lived experiences, it is my job to help them on their own personal journey.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is any client who is ready to make change in their life in some way. Even small changes can make a big impact, and the biggest factors in the success of a client is their willingness to show up genuinely, and create a relationship with their therapist. If you are looking for a space to feel safe, heard, and to allow yourself to be known, we can do wonderful work together.

My treatment methods

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT is an approach to therapy that considers how early relationships can impact self-esteem, intimacy, connection with others, and relationship satisfaction with friends, family, and intimate partners. I use EFT with individuals, couples, and families, to ensure that healthy attachment and bonding is prioritized.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT can assist clients with identifying when their negative thoughts and beliefs are impacting their quality of life, and help change these thoughts and beliefs that may be holding you back.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

CPT is an approach to trauma therapy that can assist clients in addressing their traumatic experiences head-on, and allow them to both process the experience(s) as well as identify what beliefs about themselves, other people, and the world may have been impacted by these experiences. CPT can help the client make adjustments to these beliefs to be more balanced and realistic in order for those beliefs to no longer negatively impact the clients' lives.
