I am Andrea Marez. I attended the University of La Verne for my undergraduate degree and Simmons University for my Master's Degree in Social Work. I started my career by providing support to victims of domestic violence and have since branched out into working with individuals (children, adolescents and adults) with depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, and family relationships. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities throughout sessions depending on the client's needs, but specifically engage in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. My hope for my clients is to work towards getting to know themselves better while using a client centered approach that is warm and empathetic. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach with my kids and husband and relaxing in the warm sun. I love trying new foods and truly abide by work-life balance. Contact me if you would like a free consultation and explore if this could be the right fit for you or a loved one. I am here to listen and provide the help and guidance you need to change negative behavior patterns and begin taking the steps in the right direction.
In our first session you can expect that it will be an introductory session; we will get to know each other, discuss the therapeutic process and complete an intake assessment. During the assessment you do not have to divulge any information you are not ready to or comfortable with sharing during this first session.
Having been a therapist for that past 7 years I have been through my trial and error process of what works and does not work. I have been able to hone in my skill set and be able to quickly adapt to a client and their specific needs. I am able to read between lines at times and point out important information that the client may not see. I am very easy going and relatable as well, which I have seen that client appreciate very much.
As a behavioral health therapist, I specialize in trauma work. My services are grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), solution focused and Mindfulness techniques. I am an inclusive therapist who focuses on the client's needs, and how you the client and I can collaboratively meet those needs together.
I used ACT to help ct. better accept the struggles they have been through and be able to commit to a new way using skills to help refocus thoughts, actions and reactions.
I use CBT to be able to help ct. figure out why thoughts and reactions do not always match up. Being able to decompress and analyze our negative thought patterns and redirect them to positive thought and solutions.
I have been trained in trauma a lot. I used TFCBT in many trauma forms weather it is big or small. The overall use of TFCBT is to be able to confront your trauma, process it and learn healing ways.
I use DBT as a way to help ct. become more mindful and being more present in the moments. Taking a step back and learning to calm racing thoughts.
For those clients that love to be solution focused, I utilize solution focused treatment to help client manage everyday life stressors or conflicts and develop plans and skills that are effective.
