Hello, I'm Renai Allen, a dual board-certified Family Medicine and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (DNP) with over 30 years of experience in clinical and academic settings.

Whether you're managing acute or chronic anxiety and/or depression; a mood disorder, grief, trauma, or a severe and persistent mental illness such as schizophrenia; schizoaffective disorder, I'm here to support your mental health and wellness journey.

First session

During the first visit, a psychiatric evaluation will be conducted within the safe & secure environment of our office or through telehealth, while in the comfort of your own home. I will attentively listen while having an open dialogue about your concerns. Questions will be asked about your personal & family history, background, previous treatment, including medications, and your activities of daily living. We'll together develop a holistic treatment plan, that you feel comfortable with.

Strengths

I've had the privilege of supporting people from diverse backgrounds and cultures in various settings. I believe treatment should honor your unique identity and traditions. Therefore, during our first session, I will prioritize your comfort as we work toward building trust for ongoing, effective therapy. We will discuss options for treatment, with or without medications.

Ideal clients

I'm enjoy working with adolescents (ages 13+) through older adults seeking compassionate, evidence-based mental health care. This includes individuals and families dealing with a wide range of mental health conditions, where clients often present with concerns like anxiety, depression, trauma, mood disorders, and challenges with medication adherence or emotional regulation. Clients typically come to us feeling overwhelmed by life's challenges, such as stress from life transitions, interpersonal conflicts, grief, or chronic mental health struggles that impact daily functioning. Many have a mindset of seeking holistic support—wanting not just symptom relief but personalized strategies that respect their life stage, values, and lived experiences. They may feel stuck, judgmental toward themselves, or disconnected from support systems, desiring a recovery-oriented approach grounded in empathy and collaboration Our clients aim for goals like developing practical coping tools, improving medication management, if needed through education and monitoring, enhancing family involvement for better support, and building resilience via individualized treatment plans. This often involves psychiatric evaluations, supportive therapy, and integrated care to achieve mental health stability, better relationships, and a stronger sense of purpose—all tailored to promote long-term wellness.
