Hello! My name is Costenah, I am a LPC licensed to practice in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I am also an approved clinical supervisor (ACS). I have over 12 years of experience working with clients and graduated from Rosemont College in 2012, earning a Counseling Psychology Degree with focus on Professional Counseling. I have successfully treated clients with concerns such as anxiety/panic attacks, depression, suicidal thoughts/ self harm, bipolar disorder, gender and sexuality curious, and interpersonal conflicts.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During your initial sessions, we will work on getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. You can expect a lot of open-ended questions about your life, your feelings, and your goals. This is a time for you to share as much or as little as you're comfortable with—there’s no pressure. I will explain how therapy works for your goals, discuss confidentiality, and outline what you can expect from the process. Early sessions are about building trust and creating a safe space where you feel heard and supported.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I blend various counseling techniques in session based on my clients current needs, and present them in a conversational way. Sessions feel fluid and will always encompass unconditional positive regard. I meet clients were they are at while also assisting them in taking the next supported step in achieving their goals towards mental well-being

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT as an intervention to gain insight into the relationship between thoughts and feelings, and the ability to gain awareness of thoughts and reframe them into more healthy perspectives.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT with clients struggling with regulating their emotions. Interventions such as mindfulness exercises and Interpersonal Effectiveness skills will improve the ability for the client to manage difficult feelings and interact more positively with others in their life

Psychodynamic

I blend Pyschodynamic interventions with other counseling techniques for clients who are interested in uncovering the root cause(s) of their emotional disregulation. I use this approach to glance at the past in an effort to gain insight and, at times, closure.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I implement ACT practices into sessions for clients who benefit from learning to accept and acknowledge their emotions as well as their values. This is a beneficial approach for clients who wish to have some focus of their session on bodily sensations that accompany emotional states such as panic attacks and OCD.
