Hello, my name is LaShunda. I am an independently licensed counselor. I have been in the helping field for over 30 years, and a therapist for over 11 of those years. I have started my own practice with a specialty of helping the "Wounded Healer", meaning that those of us who are always there for others, but do not take the time to heal for ourselves. I am called to help you.
In our first session. I would love for you to share with me what has led you to seek therapy. I would love to hear what or how you desire to be in the next few weeks and what goals you have would like to accomplish. Then we work together to set this in action.
My greatest strength is that I am a empathetic listener and I have a genuine spirit. These two attributes afford me the opportunity to have great therapeutic skills and giftedness to show up for my clients and assist them with a skills that will assist them in new beginnings.
I would love to work with clients who have high-demand jobs and feel they do not have time for self-care because of the positions they hold in their current jobs, churches, or households. I also love working with therapists, pastors, pastors' wives, corporate leaders, and mothers. We all tend to need a listening ear, and have someone to show up and just "be"; Be whatever we need in the moment.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I utilize this therapeutic modality as the basis and customize a comprehensive treatment plan based off the client's needs.
Cognitive Processing (CPT)
This therapeutic modality is used for trauma victims to assist them in developing and recognize the way the traumatic event was processed and how cognitive distortions have affected their thoughts and behaviors.
Christian Counseling
I identify as a Christian and utilize Christian Biblical beliefs to assist in understanding seasons of chance while still implementing evidence-based therapeutic modalities to measure the change.
EMDR
I love using EMDR to implement treatment for trauma in helping my clients desensitize the effects of the long-standing memories that caused negative maladaptive behaviors.
