(she/her)
I’m Munachiso “Muna” Iheonunekwu, a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over a decade of experience in healthcare. Since becoming a licensed PMHNP in 2018, I’ve been committed to delivering compassionate, evidence based mental health care to adults and geriatric clients in a variety of clinical settings. I’ve had the privilege of working in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community environments, giving me a well-rounded understanding of how mental health affects every aspect of a person’s life. Both my professional background and lived experiences help me connect with clients in a way that’s authentic, respectful, and deeply supportive.
In your first session with me, you can expect a welcoming, supportive space where we begin getting to know each other. I'll ask questions about your mental health history, current concerns, lifestyle, and goals so I can get a clear picture of what you're experiencing. We'll talk about what’s been working, what hasn’t, and what you hope to achieve through treatment. By the end, we’ll start developing a treatment plan tailored to your needs, which may include therapy, medication, or both.
I bring a strong foundation of clinical expertise and deep compassion to the care I provide, shaped by over a decade of experience working with diverse individuals since 2011. I’ve supported adults and geriatric clients in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community settings, which has given me a broad and realistic perspective on how mental health impacts daily life. I take the time to listen to your history, understand your needs, and work with you to improve your mental well-being.
I serve adults and geriatric clients who are navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life transitions, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed or stuck. I work well with individuals who are ready to engage in their mental health journey and value a thoughtful, respectful, and collaborative approach. Whether you're new to treatment or continuing care, I provide a safe space where you can feel heard, supported, and actively involved in building a path toward stability and wellness.
Supportive
In my practice, I often integrate supportive therapy into medication management sessions to provide a more holistic approach to care. During our time together, I create a safe, empathetic space for you to express concerns, explore stressors, and receive encouragement. This allows us to address both your emotional needs and treatment goals, reinforcing your strengths while monitoring and adjusting medications as needed. Supportive therapy helps ensure you feel heard, supported, and actively involved in your care
