I have been in practice for 30+ years and as a clinically trained social worker. I have served in several interesting capacities. My goal as a therapist is to be a part of the therapeutic process in guiding you forward to find the fulfilling life you deserve. I provide a nurturing and safe space for us to work as a team to identify your therapy goals and it's my priority to meet you where you are at in your journey. I will approach your challenges with support and openness to assist with the process of developing healthy, and useful coping strategies that work for you.
In our first session together, we'll start with introductions, reviewing practice policies and limits of confidentiality, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help us create a personalized treatment plan to work through in follow-up sessions. I believe specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) treatment goals are crucial in creating sustainable change and creating a life you love.
I have extensive experience with a range of clients, which has helped me hone my strengths as a provider. I am warm and empathetic, but also use gentle confrontation to help clients identify the root cause of their challenges and create a tailored plan that leads to measurable progress.
I work best with clients who are open to growth and change, accepting that it often comes with discomfort. I aim to walk alongside my clients as they work through accepting past hurts, addressing mental blocks, exploring forgiveness and accountability, as well as acknowledging their own role in suffering, while also moving forward and creating a reality they have dreamt of.
CBT is a traditional, evidence-based approach to thought and behavior change. I use this methodology to assist my clients in becoming aware of irrational or negative thinking so they can see situations clearly, process them, and respond to them in healthy ways.
Person-centered therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps clients understand themselves through self-discovery, utilizing key concepts of unconditional positive regard, empathy, congruence, and self actualization. It is my hope that with this approach, clients grow in their insight and internal motivations.
Utilizing a mindfulness therapy approach focuses on cultivating present-moment awareness by teaching individuals to observe their thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations without judgment, aiming to promote emotional regulation, reduce stress, and enhance self-awareness.
