Dawn Jezuit

LMHC (she/her)9 years of experience

I am a mental health counselor who is passionate about helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, heal from trauma, and build healthier relationships with themselves and others. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed, incorporating evidence-based techniques to support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, and eating disorders. I strive to create a safe, judgment-free space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes and build a life that aligns with their values.

First session

Your first session is an opportunity to feel heard, understood, and supported without fear of judgment. We will take time to get to know you, explore what brought you to therapy, and discuss the challenges you are experiencing and the changes you hope to make. You don't need to have all the answers or know exactly where to start. We will work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you, beginning to identify your strengths, explore your goals, and consider tools that can help you navigate life's challenges. My priority is to create a safe, welcoming space where you can show up as your authentic self and begin your journey toward healing and growth.

Strengths

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being themselves and exploring difficult experiences. I bring empathy, authenticity, and a genuine passion for helping people recognize their strengths, break unhealthy patterns, and develop healthier ways of coping. My approach is collaborative and trauma-informed, meeting each client where they are while incorporating evidence-based techniques tailored to their individual needs. I believe healing happens when people feel understood rather than judged, and I strive to help clients build self-awareness, confidence, and lasting change at their own pace.

Ideal clients

My ideal clients are individuals who are ready to better understand themselves, work through past experiences, and create meaningful changes in their lives. I enjoy working with people navigating trauma, addiction and recovery, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and difficulties with self-esteem or boundaries. I welcome clients who may feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to begin, as well as those who are motivated to grow but need support along the way. You don't have to have everything figured out to begin therapy. My goal is to meet clients where they are, help them recognize their strengths, and empower them to build healthier coping skills, stronger relationships, and a more fulfilling life.

Treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients understand how their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence one another. Together, we identify unhelpful thought patterns, explore how past experiences shape current responses, and develop healthier ways of thinking and coping. I incorporate practical strategies to help clients manage anxiety, depression, trauma-related triggers, and everyday stressors. My goal is to empower clients to recognize their ability to create change, build confidence in their decisions, and develop skills they can use in their daily lives to support lasting emotional growth and healing.

Motivational Interviewing

I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients explore their personal reasons for change in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. Rather than telling clients what they should do, I work collaboratively with them to identify their values, recognize their strengths, and explore any uncertainty or ambivalence they may feel about making changes. This approach is especially helpful for clients navigating addiction and recovery, unhealthy patterns, or life transitions. My goal is to empower clients to build confidence in their ability to change, strengthen their motivation, and take meaningful steps toward a life that aligns with their goals and values.

Attachment-based

I incorporate attachment-based principles into my practice to help clients understand how early relationships and life experiences can influence their emotions, relationships, and sense of self. Together, we explore patterns related to trust, connection, boundaries, and emotional safety while identifying how past experiences may affect present relationships. I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can develop greater self-awareness, strengthen their ability to form healthy connections, and work toward more secure relationship patterns. My goal is to help clients build healthier relationships with themselves and others while fostering self-compassion, emotional security, and lasting personal growth.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I incorporate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients learn to navigate difficult thoughts and emotions without allowing them to control their lives. Together, we focus on building mindfulness, accepting what cannot always be changed, and identifying personal values that guide meaningful decisions. I help clients develop psychological flexibility, recognize unhelpful patterns, and take practical steps toward the life they want to create. My goal is to empower clients to respond to challenges with greater self-compassion, build resilience, and make choices that align with their values, even when life feels difficult.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques to help clients manage intense emotions, improve relationships, and develop healthier ways of responding to stress. Together, we work on building practical skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. I help clients recognize emotional triggers, pause before reacting, and develop strategies to navigate difficult situations with greater confidence and self-awareness. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can learn to accept themselves while working toward meaningful change, building resilience, and creating healthier relationships with themselves and others.
