Hello, my name is Michele Marie Irby, MSW, LISW, and I am the Founder and Owner of Resilient Soul Counseling & Consulting, where we provide individualized therapeutic experiences rooted in authenticity, healing, and transformation. As a licensed clinical social worker, educator, and clinical leader, I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, families, and organizations build resilience, navigate life's challenges, and achieve meaningful growth. My approach integrates evidence-based clinical practices, trauma-informed care, cultural responsiveness, and faith-based principles when desired by the client. Through Resilient Soul Counseling & Consulting, my mission is to create safe spaces where healing can occur, strengths can be discovered, and lasting change can be achieved. The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and determine how I can best support you. We will review what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and explore relevant personal, cultural, and emotional factors that may be impacting your well-being. I will also explain my approach to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and review important information related to confidentiality, consent, and session structure. This session is collaborative and paced according to your comfort level. You are not expected to share everything at once or revisit difficult experiences before you feel ready. Together, we will begin identifying next steps and create a plan that aligns with your needs, values, and goals. My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and clear about how we will move forward.
My greatest strengths lie in my ability to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that honors the full context of each client’s lived experience. I create a therapeutic space that is grounded, collaborative, and emotionally safe, allowing clients to explore difficult experiences without feeling rushed or judged. I integrate evidence-based modalities such as EMDR and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to support meaningful, lasting change. I am particularly skilled at helping clients identify core beliefs, process unresolved experiences, and reconnect with their values. For clients who desire it, I thoughtfully integrate Christian counseling and biblical principles in a way that complements clinical best practices. Clients often benefit from my balanced approach—combining empathy with clarity, depth with structure, and insight with practical tools—to support healing, resilience, and intentional growth.
I am best positioned to serve adults—particularly Black women—who are navigating depression, identity concerns, trauma, and major life transitions. My ideal clients are those who feel emotionally overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, or stuck in patterns that no longer align with their values. Many are seeking deeper healing, greater self-understanding, and meaningful change rather than short-term symptom relief. I work well with clients who are open to self-reflection, values-based growth, and evidence-based therapy approaches such as EMDR and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I am also a good fit for individuals who desire culturally responsive care or wish to integrate faith and biblical principles into the therapeutic process. Together, we focus on healing, resilience, and building a life that feels intentional and authentic.

Christian Counseling
I have effectively used Christian counseling by integrating biblical principles with evidence-based therapy to support individuals navigating depression, identity concerns, and existential struggles. Culturally Sensitive Therapy
I provide culturally sensitive therapy for Black women, offering a supportive and affirming space to address depression, identity concerns, burnout, and culturally specific stressors. My approach honors lived experience, cultural strengths, and resilience while integrating evidence-based, trauma-informed care.
EMDR
I use EMDR to help individuals process distressing experiences that contribute to depression, identity concerns, and existential distress. Through a trauma-informed and client-centered approach, EMDR supports emotional healing, adaptive belief development, and improved functioning.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns that impact emotions and behaviors. In my work, I guide clients in increasing awareness of automatic thoughts, examining how these thoughts influence daily functioning, and developing more balanced, realistic perspectives. I integrate practical, skill-based interventions to support behavioral change and emphasize applying strategies beyond the therapy session. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and focused on building long-term coping skills that promote emotional regulation and resilience.
