I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, and moved to the San Diego area at the age of three. I am fortunate to be fully fluent in English and Spanish. Living in a bicultural home and in a very multicultural environment, I have been privileged to be part of the border culture, a subculture in itself. My own personal and professional experiences have allowed me the opportunity to understand the importance of cultural, socio-economic, gender, and racial-related issues. I can empathize, if not relate to them all. My hope and commitment to my clients, are to guide them through their journey towards self-awareness and wellbeing. My goal is to provide them with the necessary tools (I think therapy is a safe place where the clients build their toolbox) to help them manage current and future life challenges. I would be honored to participate in your journey of self-awareness, well-being, and overall emotional health.
In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions and then discuss your specific challenges. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
Eye Movement Deseintization and Reporcessing (EMDR), trauma focused, CBT, client centered, family systems, motivational interviewing, and solution focused.
I believe we all have a history of trauma that carries into our personal lives, intimate relationships, and the way we cope with life. If we don't learn to recognize how trauma plays a dysfunctional role in the way we approach what we call "life", it can have detrimental outcomes for ourselves, the ones we love, and our overall phsycial and mental health. We don't need to talk about the trauma to heal, however if untreated it takes an immense effect on how we interact/view the world and people around us. I feel that my biggest strength is building a healthy/safe enviroment for my clients to explore what changes are necessary to to live an authentic and joyful life.
I enjoy working with adults with anxiety, depression, going through life transitions, and trauma.
