I am a licensed clinical social worker. I will work with you in making your way through end-of-life issues whether it be dealing with a life limiting illness as a patient, caregiver, or working through the grief after someone you love passes. You might be feeling overwhelmed, guilty, afraid, or angry and not know which way to turn. All these feelings and more are normal. I would be honored to walk this journey with you honoring your past, living in the present, and finding a new normal.

First session

Our first session will focus on us getting to know each other and beginning to hear your story. I will be asking you questions to know your background and beliefs, and to explore where you are in your experience and where you would like to be. You can ask me questions as well. Together we will begin working on a plan to acknowledge your loss and learn to cope with your new life.

Strengths

I am a gentle open soul who will go at your pace in sharing your experiences and healing. For those who have lost a loved one, I will help you explore how your relationship with him/her continues and growth actually takes place. At this point, it probably feels impossible to think of growth coming out of this, because it hurts so completely. Others might feel guilt over the relief that comes with the death because the caregiving has been so hard and you are tired. If you are currently a patient or a caregiver, the overwhelm can be great. It can be difficult to know what to do and how to keep going. As a counselor, I bring therapeutic training, but more importantly I bring a safe place to tell your story and hold it with you. I need to let you know that though all of this may seem very heavy and sad, I bring a human touch of humor and allow imperfection in our loved ones and ourselves while exploring our relationships, change, loss and strength to make it through.

Ideal clients

Clients with loss due to life limiting illness, caregiving, death of loved one, death of a pet, job, aging, retirement or divorce. Goals will be to explore the loss and the various feelings and emotions that the loss brings in a safe place. The client will be willing to learn to lean in to the hope and share their heartbreak and trust the process to feel better in a new life while still honoring the past.

Treatment methods

Grief Therapy

Grief therapy is designed to help individuals process emotional, physical and psychological loss. I provide a safe space to process the loss, validate emotions and adapt to a new life.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT treats many challenges including anxiety, depression and grief. It looks at automatic negative thoughts and looks at if this is actually true. It helps facing fears and helps to make changes.
