10 years of experience
Greetings, I'm a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) with additional training in addictions (Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist) and Couples Therapist (Level I Gottman Method). I've been practicing for 10 years and in addition to therapy and counseling, I'm seeking a doctorate in counseling. Given I'm in recovery myself, I work extensively with challenges such as alcohol/drugs, pornography, gaming and internet addiction.
In our initial session we'll get to know each other. My approach is pretty chill ... I'm laid back and rather relaxed in my approach. All in all I love the therapeutic process (have my own therapist) and often use the mantra ... "teaching you to be your on best therapist possible."
I've practiced for over a decade now and continue to learn. Actually, one of the most exciting learning opportunities comes from my clients and I value client insight deeply. I reflect often on what the Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung would say ... "when someone comes to me for therapy and the therapy hour is over, if I myself am not changed in some way, then nothing took place."
I enjoy working with adults 25 and older with relationship and addiction issues.
Essentially we navigate life through our thoughts, feelings, and actions (TFA). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is useful in helping "think about our thinking" in order to enhance and enrich our lives.
In addition to training in mental health, I have been trained in addiction (process and chemical) treatments. Motivational interviewing is a "way of being" approach that allows for individual autonomy in treatment.
All my life I've been interested in stories and a useful way of viewing our lives is through "our narrative." What's our story, how are we writing it in the here and now, and what would we like future chapters to look like?
Most all my approaches as a therapist encourage "being mindful." Once tapped into, wonderful things happen. I practice daily and love to help others achieve a sense of mindfulness.
