You don't have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating a major life transition, struggling with relationships, parenting challenges, or trying to help your child or teen thrive, I'm here to provide a supportive space where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered. I'm a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) and the owner of Ember + Sage Counseling. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, with a special passion for helping women, teens, and families navigate anxiety, stress, trauma, perfectionism, self-esteem, emotional regulation, and life's many transitions. My background in schools and community mental health has given me experience supporting clients through a wide range of challenges while collaborating with families, educators, and other professionals when appropriate. Clients often describe me as warm, genuine, calming, and easy to talk to. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth - I believe therapy should feel like a partnership, not a place where you're judged or told what to do. Together, we'll identify what's keeping you stuck, build on your strengths, and develop practical tools that create meaningful, lasting change. As both a therapist and a mom, I understand how easy it is to put everyone else's needs first. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be yourself, explore what matters most, and leave each session with greater confidence, clarity, and hope. No matter where you're starting, you don't have to navigate it alone.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, so my goal during our first session is to help you feel comfortable, heard, and supported. We’ll begin by talking about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you’re currently facing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, relationships, strengths, and any symptoms or stressors that may be affecting your daily life. For children and teens, I also work collaboratively with parents or caregivers when appropriate. You can expect a warm, nonjudgmental conversation rather than an interrogation. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth, and I want you to leave the first session with a clearer understanding of your concerns, a sense of connection, and an initial plan for how we can work toward your goals together. Most importantly, you can expect a space where you don’t have to have everything figured out - you just have to show up.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe the best therapy balances compassion with honesty. My clients know they can count on me to provide a space where they feel genuinely heard, accepted, and supported, but also gently challenged when patterns are keeping them stuck. I'll celebrate your progress, help you recognize your strengths, and ask thoughtful questions that encourage new perspectives and meaningful growth. One of my greatest strengths is my ability to build strong relationships with clients of all ages. Whether I'm working with a young child, a teenager, or an adult, I strive to create an environment where people feel comfortable being themselves without fear of judgment. I meet clients where they are while also helping them move toward where they want to be. My experience in schools, community mental health, and private practice has allowed me to support individuals and families through a wide range of challenges, from everyday stress and anxiety to trauma and significant life transitions. As a mom, I also understand the realities of balancing responsibilities, navigating changing identities, and trying to care for everyone else while neglecting yourself. My style is warm, genuine, and collaborative. I'll sit with you through the hard moments, but I won't leave you there. Together, we'll identify what's getting in the way, build practical skills you can use outside of therapy, and work toward lasting change that feels meaningful in your everyday life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are children ages 3–18 and adult women who are ready to better understand themselves and create meaningful change. They may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating a difficult life transition, struggling with self-esteem, processing trauma, experiencing relationship challenges, or trying to manage the stress of everyday life. Some are high-achievers who look like they have everything together on the outside while quietly feeling exhausted or stuck on the inside. I also enjoy working with children and adolescents who need support with emotional regulation, behavioral concerns, school-related stress, social challenges, or family changes. I work closely with the important people in a child’s life to help build skills that support progress both in and outside of therapy. The clients I connect with most are those who value a warm, collaborative approach. They want more than just someone to listen - they're looking for a therapist who will help them better understand their patterns, develop practical coping skills, and gently challenge them to grow. Whether you're taking your first step into therapy or returning after time away, we'll work together at a pace that feels comfortable while creating lasting, meaningful change.

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

While I work with a wide range of concerns, I believe it's important that every client is matched with the provider best suited to their needs. If I feel another therapist has more specialized training or experience that would better support your goals, I'll be honest about that and help connect you with appropriate resources. I typically refer clients who need a higher level of care, such as intensive outpatient or inpatient treatment, or those experiencing active psychosis, severe substance use disorders requiring specialized treatment, eating disorders that require specialized medical or nutritional support, or acute safety concerns that cannot be effectively managed in an outpatient setting. I may also recommend a provider with specialized expertise for concerns such as couples counseling, court-ordered services, psychological testing, or highly specialized treatment approaches outside my scope of practice. My priority is always ensuring you receive the highest quality care. If a referral is the best next step, I'll do everything I can to make that process as smooth and supportive as possible while helping you find a provider who is the right fit for your unique needs.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the primary approaches I use to help clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Often, the way we think about ourselves, others, or challenging situations can unintentionally keep us feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck. CBT helps us identify these patterns and replace them with more balanced, helpful ways of thinking and responding. In our work together, we'll explore the thoughts and beliefs that may be contributing to your current struggles, develop practical coping strategies, and practice new skills you can use in everyday life. Whether we're addressing anxiety, depression, stress, low self-esteem, emotional regulation, or life transitions, CBT provides effective, evidence-based tools that promote lasting change. My approach to CBT is collaborative and individualized. Rather than simply telling you what to think, I'll help you gain insight into your own patterns, challenge unhelpful beliefs with curiosity instead of judgment, and build confidence in your ability to navigate life's challenges long after therapy ends.

Psychodynamic

I incorporate a psychodynamic approach to help clients gain a deeper understanding of how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may be influencing their current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Sometimes we find ourselves repeating the same relationship patterns, struggling with self-worth, or reacting in ways we don't fully understand. Exploring the "why" behind these patterns can create meaningful insight and lasting change. Together, we'll examine how your life experiences have shaped the way you see yourself, relate to others, and cope with challenges. By increasing self-awareness, we can identify recurring themes, recognize patterns that are no longer serving you, and create opportunities for healthier ways of thinking, feeling, and relating. My psychodynamic approach is warm, collaborative, and integrated with other evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed interventions. Rather than focusing only on symptom relief, I help clients understand the deeper roots of their struggles while also developing practical skills to support growth, healing, and long-term emotional well-being.
