Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session together, we will begin with brief presentations, then we will immerse ourselves in the specific challenges it faces and we will specify what are the objectives you want to work in the treatment. This will help me create a personalized plan to work.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

Having worked for 31 years, my experience, is a great differential, in addition to my life experience, as a mother and immigrant. I am passionate about the study of the human mind and I always seek to update myself as well as listen to different theories and investigations

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is anyone who wants to work to change some aspect of his life, either for a difficult life story, a trauma, low self-esteem, symptoms or signals of your body that does not understand like panic or fears, someone who does not achieve its goals and postpone them all the time. We can find the way, and the skills to feel better in a healthy way to stop the anguish, manage the stress or improve their lives. Spanish is my first language, and I feel better working in Spanish or Portuguese more than in English.

I wish I could select more than 2 descriptions of Valeria's style. Sessions are productive and often revealing - allowing me to gain more insight to my behavior and feelings. This insight has given me (with Valeria's solution oriented approach) a much better understanding of who I am -and provide me with the tools that will help with positive change. I have truly grown during these last few months with her.

What made me consider approaching this person is that they seem like someone who is willing to understand what you're going through and to have a lot of experience and understanding of their profession. When talking to her, she was very much understanding that I feel a lot of guilt from my past actions and that it gives me anxiety that I could still be having problematic traits those right now but could be repressed by guilt and morals. They didn't judge and focused on my goal to get better.

I've been seeing Valeria for 7 months, and in these 7 months, she has helped me immensely with my Panic/Anxiety Disorder. I have been able to overcome this really challenging obstacle, not being able to go out to public places, or friends' gatherings. After 2 months I started showing a lot of results where I was able to even start a class in person. I'm very thankful for her. I hope a lot of people are able to accomplish what I accomplished and more, with her help.

My treatment methods

Psychodynamic

More than 30 years ago I became a therapist, my hospital experience allowed me to develop active listening helping clients to feel relieved in a short time. At the same time that they are offered a safe space where it will not be judged.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Sometimes in cases of depression, anxiety, or food disorders, we find certain beliefs that represent an obstacle to achieving something we want and feeling happy. Many times we know what would do us well and we don't do it. And we find thoughts that generate feelings or behaviors that do not do us well. The challenge is replacing those distorted thoughts with healthier alternatives that allow us to live better.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

During an era of my life, I specialize in babies, children, and adolescents. I was seeing the need to work on parents' orientation from the beginning, and verifying that small early interventions made it necessary to see the children and that what worried the parents was resolved.
