I am a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist with 20 years experience working with individuals and couples struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, anger management, miscommunication in relationships, relational breakups, life transitions and LGBTQ+ challenges. I practice an eclectic combination of person centered, collaborative and goal oriented counseling approaches as we work together, learning to identify the patterns that no longer provide you with the life you desire. Identifying and practicing new skills to make the small changes allows you to find your strengths and solutions to return you to your best self.
Our first session will be focused on creating a trusting relationship where you feel safe to express your thoughts and feelings. We'll identify your expectations and goals for counseling and answer any questions you may have. We will begin by exploring and identifying what brings you to therapy, your goals and what's causing distress in your life.
I believe my greatest strength as a provider is my ability to reflectively listen as you express what brings you to therapy. I am present, open-minded, authentic, and nonjudgmental. I believe in the importance to ask clarifying questions without make assumptions.
Utilizing DBT, we will identify effective coping skills of mindfulness, acceptance, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness.
I utilize CBT to help you recognize, challenge and shift your negative thoughts and feelings that shaped your view and behaviors.
Always focused on client centered therapy approaches, I utilize motivational interviewing to support you in exploring and identify your own purpose for practicing positive changes for increased healthy life choices and behaviors.
Whether you are new or long term partners, I am focused on being a support in helping you communicate more effectively.
